Clarence creator fired for alleged sexual harassment

So you say. How do you possibly know? Let's recap this. As I understand it, by your lights one person at Cartoon Network having a problem with keeping his hands to himself is something that needs to be taken with massive grains of salt, whether it be one person accusing or ten people collaborating the claim. We need "evidence" - as if everyone has their own personal video camera following them around, but OK, moving on. On the other hand, taking for granted that multiple people at Cartoon Network have no problem straight up lying about someone else and / or their experience with that person's conduct? That is more plausible and reasonable.

Goodness, is that really what you want to tell me? I could say a lot of things about that, though I'll settle for "I'm not buying it".

Those who wish this hadn't come out over social media should just say so. Saying these people are DISHONEST is something else altogether, and something that I frankly feel is outrageous.

Again, completely agreed, if this was kept in closed doors it would have been handled a lot better. I also know from experience that even if the witness is truthful, they need evidence, because otherwise it causes problems.

I just feel like Cartoon Network HR is going to "suspend" quite a few people to calm them down.

Putting it into quotation marks doesn't make it any less pivotal to this whole thing. There are indeed ways of getting evidence without having a Go-Pro on your head at all times.Police reports, witness testimonies, private investigations. You know, the things we have courts and a system of laws in place for.

Apparently now, some CN people are tweeting that Skyler Page indeed won't be allowed into CN's studios anymore, which sounds like firing or indefinite suspension. I wonder if the person who started this snafu knew, and wanted to rub salt into the wound. Big mistake I think, this debacle is just beginning, they should've kept their tweeting mouths shut and now they might all lose their jobs.

Yup it's confirm that Skyler Page is not allowed to set foot on the studio premises

Why would anyone who said anything possibly be suspended or fired? If the network has already taken action, obviously there was something to it. Also, linking to sources would be useful on this development. Twitter is a big place....

Lord Beckett: on top of what the network has purportedly done, I see you are portraying witness accounts as something valid. I rest my case. I did not doubt a thing about evidence, only the stance that it most assuredly cannot exist simply because you and I don't know about it.

Should Skyler be fired for his actions?
Yes. Any business that doesn't take zero tolerance measures towards sexual harassment can lead to massive damage towards their image. Terrible actions such as that should have massive ramifications to teach Skyler and others that such behavior will have dire consequences.

Should Clarence get cancelled?
NO.
They can remove his name off the credits, and find other people to helm the show. Animation is a collaborative effort and the talent pool is large and varied, so they can find someone else to help and ensure the show stays on track. All we can hope a that the show will still have it's charm.
Canceling the show will mean numerous people will be out of the job. A group of talented artists should not suffer from the actions of one guy. And why stop there? They might as well remove all the episodes of Adventure Time he worked on as well.

Another update. Even when Skyler Page is fired, Clarence will continue and will recast the voice of Clarence. Megan Nicole Dong confirm this since she has contacts over at CN.

The way Patrick Harpin mentions, him and Spencer Rothbell are the ones who where more involved in the show then Skyler Page, he even mentions that Page didn't wrote any episodes, they only gave him the lines for Clarence and that's it. Hope that Patrick Harpin considers coming back now that Page is not longer involve.

I expected that, the only question now is who will take over the role?

It can be anyone who has a similar voice to Page or even Pendlenton Ward since many say that Clarence's voice is similar to Lumpy Space Princess.

This is gonna sound weird but I was also thinking of Pete Browngardt, both Uncle Grandpa and Clarence have lispy voices.

I bet the voice actor for Tina from Bob's Burgers, Dan Mintz, could easily imitate Clarence's voice without anybody noticing. All he'd need to do is use his Tina voice with some changes and a lisp. Anybody could take over that role.

The relevant remarks (Ms. Dong is a story artist at DreamWorks, BTW)

Glad to hear from a friend at Cartoon Network that Skyler Page is not allowed to set foot on the studio's premises anymore.
Let's continue to support Clarence, which will continue without his involvement. A lot of talented folks work to make this show great!
a very reliable source told me this. They're taking it quite seriously over there, which they should.
Clarence will continue, and they will recast the voice.

Except... these aren't witnesses. They are friends who are spouting off a bunch of hearsay. Most of them don't even work for Cartoon Network, they work for Frederator, the main exception being the ex-Head Writer of Clarence who very obviously has some other beefs with Skyler Page judging by his post.

Where did this incident take place? Some people are saying it happened at a party, where drinks and alcohol was likely involved. This whole thing just gets sketchier by the minute.

Let it go. Many people are confirming this, Patrick Harpin even remarks that he left the show because of Page's behavior.

What do you mean by sketchier? Do you mean Page's behavior was sketchier or that the allegations (which seem like they have ample evidence if he's actually being suspended) are sketchier?

Looks like Cartoon Network is out of a 6:45/5:45c slot now, thank you SJWs.

Except A) the show's continuing without Page on board, and B) why are you angrier at "SJWs" than at a guy who by all accounts did some pretty bad things?

Half a dozen people on twitter who don't even work at CN "confirming" this doesn't really mean anything.

Don't make me out to be someone siding with Page. Rather, I want to see the full story on this, because I think the rabbit hole goes a lot deeper than what they are letting on.

I also linked two people at Cartoon Network in post #31. Considering that Cartoon Brew just published an article that quotes a Cartoon Network representative as saying that “Skyler Page is no longer an employee at Cartoon Network Studios.”, I'd say the situation counts as the exact opposite of "sketchier by the minute".

That's...

That's what we call a joke, friend.

It's a joke that makes it sound like you're siding with Page and making fun of the accusers as "SJWs." I hope that wasn't the intention and something just got messed up in the delivery.

If they were there when the event took place and/or they're aware of Page's behavior, then I think that their Twitter comments do mean something. Or at least I'd lead more towards that than thinking more about conspiracy theories and that there's something deeper than one of their employees sexually harassing someone. It certainly doesn't look like things are getting sketchier by the minute at least.

It still comes off as a joke in rather poor taste when it seems like you're insulting the accusers as being "SJWs".

Given how many people have supported the claim that he did something terrible to Emily Partridge and the fact that Page is no longer allowed on the studio's premise, I'm willing to believe that it's true. I honestly couldn't see that many people lying about it since that would just ruin their careers and they could be sued for libel. Plus, Cartoon Network probably wouldn't have taken such quick action if that wasn't true. I'm glad that he was punished for his actions and that it didn't result in cancelling Clarence. That would just not be fair to punish the whole creative team for the action of one person, especially when that would result in a lot of people losing their jobs. Suspending Page, if not outright firing him, still punishes him for his behavior, while not making innocent people suffer as a result, and it makes it clear to everyone in the public eye that this kind of behavior is unacceptable. Since he had little involvement with the creative process, at least the show won't drastically change and they'll just recast Clarence.

You should consider the fact that it was made during this morning when we knew fewer details about the debacle than we know now.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
