Welcome, folks, to the awaited sequel to "Chronicles of the Empire". I'd say all the precautionary stuff for the first Chronicles applies here also. Unlike this piece's predecessor, this will be a more linear storyline, instead of the sometimes downright random Entries in the original. In this, I've experimented with having different sides to our old characters. Hope you all enjoy this as you did the original. So, on with the show.

Chapter 1

The whip-like tendrils of the sun’s corona danced through the inky black of space. The sight was not much unlike a sea anemone. It was both a sight of beauty and destruction.

And utter chaos. The Gotengo flashed by, entangled with the space dragon, King Ghidorah. The gold, 3 headed beast held onto the vessel with its large feet and twin tails while it struck out with its vicious jaws.

“Dammit!” Gryphus swore. “Get this goddam dragon off of my battlecruiser!”

“Sir, the foe has destroyed the Electron Particle Cannons and its within minimal safe range for a Nimbus strike. There’s nothing we can do. We’re at its mercy!”

“Get a hold of yourself, soldier!” Gry seethed as he stalked back and forth on the bridge. Spark showers spurted out from the consoles, until one struck the General in the face, but the reaction wasn’t as expected. This actually gave the General an idea as the sparks burned into his skin.

“If we can’t blast it off, we’ll burn it off! Singh! Drive this bucket of bolts closer to the sun!”

“Yes, sir!” The Gotengo plummeted deeper into the corona. The outer shell began to glow with heat and the internal temperature skyrocketed to an unbearable level. A few of the bridge crew lost consciousness due to heat stroke.

“General, the ship can’t take the intense heat! We have to pull out!”

“Not much longer,” Gry replied as sweat waterfalled off of his face. “Just remember, the enemy outside is going through much worse.”

This was true. A camera on the outside of the vessel watched as King Ghidorah loosened his hold, then finally subdued to the heat. He fell away, splashing into the surface of the sun. The Gotengo and its crew pulled out of the sun’s corona, believing that victory was theirs.

“All crew…” Gry panted. “Damage report…”

“The skin was heated to a dangerous level, sir, but it has remained intact. There are reports of many falling unconscious and a few deaths due to the heat.”

“At least the ship is still intact… Gotengo return to ba-”

“Wait, sir! It’s coming back!”

“What?!” The view screen switched to the rear view camera. King Ghidorah, his golden scales glowing as bright as the sun, streaked towards the wounded ESUN warship.

“Gotengo, turn 180 degrees! Let’s finish this thing off once and for all… arm Chrono Break Cannon!” Two probes shot out from the side of the ship and began to quickly orbit the ship’s bow in synch with the bow drill. The drill began to sparkle with light blue energy and the probes, using similar energy, created a ring of energy around the bow. The energy in the ring began to feed down into the drill.

The cannon fired in a magnificent blue beam, as wide around as the ship firing it. The entire vessel shook violently from the force. The Chrono Break Cannon’s shot streaked through space, and scorched through King Ghiodrah’s hard, golden scales. The dragon screeched in agony as its torso flesh was vaporized away. All that remained was his two outer heads and twin tails being held together by what little was left of his skeletal structure. The force of the cannon had sheered off the central head.

“Ahh, dammit…” Gry swore as the center screen changed again without warning, this time to the Empress. Her face showed no emotions. Her eyes never blinked.

“General… I see you managed to severely damage the Gotengo again…”

“You never seemed to care about it before…”

“Times change.”

“Oh, so, what? No congratulations on my victory either?”

“No. You’ve cost me too much money. As of now, you’re relieved of your command. Lieutenant Halsey, get that flying scrap yard back to base…”

Gryphus sat on the cot in the cold prison cell, just staring off into space. He knew something was wrong with the Empress. This was completely out of character for her. She would finance any mission and accept any losses as long as the job got done. Someone wanted him out of the way, and he knew it, but he couldn’t do anything while behind bars.

He instantly would’ve turned to Kiryu, but he also had been locked up. His mainframe had been separated from body, and the mainframe locked down, ensuring he couldn’t escape. Also, all of the other super weapons whose main loyalty laid with the General were also locked away. Doomfire, Megaguirus and Gaigan had all been put under the highest security.

Gry stuck his head of the bars. It was empty in both directions apart from one guard. He pulled himself back in and activated the beacon he had hid in his shoe, which was the only part his uniform that hadn’t been stripped from him. The beacon was an emergency signal that bypassed all communications terminals and went straight to the Angels’ personal communicators. Hopefully they hadn’t been locked away as well.

A few minutes later, Gryphus was roused by some noises coming from down the hall, most likely the changing of the guard. He was relieved to hear Forte and Ranpha’s voices instead of the typical male monotone. He rose from the cot and wandered over to the bars, trying to get a look down the hall.

It appeared as if they had received his signal as they ushered the other guards out of the brig and began to walk down the hall towards his cell.

“We came as fast as we could without drawing undue attention,” Ranpha soothed as she stopped in front of the General’s cell.

“Oh, look… They’ve locked our commander in the brig… I wonder who they’ll feed him to…” Forte chuckled as she stopped behind the blonde Angel. Ranpha shot her a dirty look over her shoulder but quickly turned back.

“If stand back, we can have you out of here in a snap.”

“No… no…” Gry replied. “The Empress ordered I be placed here, so here I shall stay. What I do want you to do is to dig up some dirt about the Empress, though. She’s been acting really out of character since when I left to fight King Ghidorah. Look for anything out of the ordinary in her demeanor, her way of dress, hell, even the way she sleeps on her bed.”

Since I have already spoken to you quite a bit about the greatness of the sequel, I am merely leaving this message out of courtesy.

*clears throat*
AWESOME!

I rock...so hard,
Empress

... Didn't Phil get locked up as well, cause his loyalty lay with you?

Anyhoo, excellent start. I'm guessing MIND CONTROL!!!

Phil's loyalty doesn't necessarily lay with me, more of with the Empress. That would explain why he sleeps in the throne room.

And as for your "mind control" theory...
It is a good guess, but you're not thinking much outside of the box. Think more outside of the box and you'll probably get it.

...It seems that even when I attempt cynicism myself, I am utterly defeated.

*blurts out random insane theories* It's a computer simulation! It's a shape-shifter! The Empress is really acting perfectly normal! Photoshop and voice-changing devices! The Flash and Danny Phantom have banded together to bring down the Empire from the inside!

Or not.

You, Charles, have a poor grip on the situation... I'm not going to spell it out for you, you'll just have to wait and see since your guessing abilities seem to have gotten progressively worse. You will have to wait until about Chapter 4 or 5 to see.

*sing song*

I know what it issss...I know what it issss!

But, Phil being so loyal to me...wouldn't HE notice something is up in my demeanor?

Empress,

You clearly stated mine too; but I let that go. *pout* Phil was our first "baby" so to speak, and you just dropped him so quickly for that damn Kyriu! *cries* He works so HARD to make you proud!!! *sniffle sniffle*

Empress,

*laughs* Phil has always had a spot in my heart, and while he does piss me off on more than a few occasions, I'm still proud of him. But Kiryu was the culmination of months of hard work and my time. I was making plans for Kiryu before I even joined the Empire. He is, in a metaphorical sense, my own son. So that's why he holds a slightly higher precedence than Phil.

Now that that is out of the way, I bring you the next part...

Chapter 2

The streets were quiet as Chitose Karasuma walked home from grocery shopping. New Kyoto was rarely this quiet, but it seemed the street vendors and party goers had gone home earlier today. Home. Chitose used to dread that word. Back, before the days of the Empire, Chitose’s father had been a Shirasagi pilot for the JXSDF and Chitose feared everyday that she would come home and find out he was dead from the seemingly daily events of protecting Japan from the hordes of monsters that attacked.

Chitose stopped and looked at her surroundings. The streets weren’t quiet, they were downright empty. A few pieces of the morning paper blew by on a breeze unopposed. Not even Mrs. Nakayama, the elder apple peddler that was out on the streets every day was out. Something was up, for real. Chitose glanced up and saw why no one else was out on the streets. A massive planetoid-shaped spacecraft hovered above the downtown district of New Kyoto. Three, smaller, talon-shaped craft hovered around the mothership.

Chitose sprinted the rest of the way home, bursting through her front door to find her father watching a press report from the Empress herself.

Citizens of New Kyoto, do not be alarmed,” the hierarch spoke. “To have you fear everything was ways of my former, warmonger of a General. Today, we shall embrace these new comers with open arms!

- - - - -

“This is your multi-talented host, Miki Saegusa, here on NKPR with a very special guest today. Please, sir, would you mind introducing yourself?”

“Oh, I’m sorry, but my real name would be much too hard to pronunciation for you humans, so you may call me “X”,” the alien replied.

“Okay, “X”, it is. So, tell me, why did you come to Earth?”

“Well, you see, us Xilliens are always looking civilizations to share out technology with, and we felt that you here on Earth were technologically advanced enough.”

“Oh, wow, this must be quite an honor, then.”

“Yes, I must say it is. Now if you don’t mind…” X gestured towards the window full of giggling girls. “I have some adoring fans to attend to…”

- - - - -

For years, we have lived in solitude, conquering all that we see,” The Empress spoke to the assembled crowd. “But now, the times have changed. Our own minds and matter can only carry us so far. Back, in the old days of Rome and Greece, the greatest civilizations were not the warmongers who attempted to force all under their rule, but the more peaceful nations who lived in harmony with the others. The nations who commenced in trade with its neighbors, not war. If our Empire is to become truly great, we must follow this path. That is why I say we are no longer the Earth Sphere Unified Nations, but with the Xilliens, we are the Universal Sphere Unified Nations!” The reaction from the crowd was mixed. The civilians cheered and hollered, while the military personnel stayed quiet. Forte paused the recording in disgust.

“I guess as of now we’re all out of the job,” she snorted as she dropped the remote for the TV on the table. Forte began to walk off.

“Wait,” Ranpha interjected. “Look. Her eyes.” Ranpha snatched up the remote and rewound the video a bit, then pressed play. “She never blinked through the entire speech.”

“Yeah, that is quite odd… Hmm… wasn’t it right before the Xiliens made contact that the Empress started acting up?”

“Yeah…”

“I think that maybe these Xiliens aren’t as they appear. We should have a little chat with the “Empress” and see what we can do about getting a DNA sample of sorts.”

- - - - -

“I think you were right General,” Ranpha whispered through the bars of the cell. “The Empress definitely isn’t herself. She supposedly just disbanded the entire Armed Forces and just abolished the Earth Sphere Unified Nations. She joined up with the Xiliens to form the “Universal Sphere Unified Nations”.”

“Okay… Now how about some news that won’t cause me to go on a homicidal rampage after I get out of here…”

“Uhh… Well, we were watching the speech where the Empress announced the whole ESUN to USUN thing, and we noticed she never blinked through the entire speech. We believe that the Xiliens may have something to do with these recent events, so Mint, Vanilla and Milfie are trying to get a DNA sample of the Empress that we can have analyzed.”

“Much better,” Gry sighed. “Any other news?”

“Yes, actually. Apparently Yakasha and Vice were charged with warmongering and sentenced to imprisonment much like you, but Vice was able to weasel her way out of the sentencing…”

“How in hell did she do that?”

“I’m not sure, but I don’t think I want to know…”

“Me neither… Okay, thanks. Tell me as soon as the results for that test get in.”

I'm just feelin' antsy today so...

UPDATE! lmao.

Empress,

*taps fingers on desk* lmao. I'm bored.

i am really liking how things are coming along.
and of course i got out of punishment...i am just that freaking awesome...

ok so maybe not

but i can beat the hell out of anyone who disagrees....(with the exception of Empress...)

She didn't blink? Oh no! She's been replaced by Darth Maul! She'll only blink if you slice her in half!

In other news... doesn't eating the world's leaders count as warmongering?

When I am back on my throne...there WILL be blood.

Empress,

Oh its bound to happen. I assure you wherever the hell I am, I'm NOT happy.

Empress,

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
