I just fround out that starting Monday, April 7, 2009 COX will be adding Cartoon Network to The High Definition Line up on Channel 764.

That is pretty neat. I have always wondered if cartoons would look different in high definition than regular tv.

I think it would be neat to see what older shows like Cow and Chicken or tom and jerry look in high definition. I don't think I will get this channel though on my tv.

Sorry to break it to you guys, Its not that amazing. I have it. CN's CHEAP HD is nothing more than a PDTV picture stretched out to fit the screen. Though Courage actually looks very nice. So just to clarify, its Stretched HD like TBS's channel. Its kind of crappy but I have some HD (Stretched) Courage episodes to download if you would like to see a sample.
Does this apply to shows like "Chowder" also, which is actually made in HD (although the version aired in CN is cropped)?

You guys are just getting Cartoon Network in HD? DirecTV's had it since 2008.

Nope. I have watched Chowder and must say that I could go buy the DVD and have the same DIGITAL (NOT HD) quality. I also must mention that ITS NOT EVEN A SEPERATE HD CHANNEL. This channel is simply CN's analog channel stretched and there is not even a CN HD logo, its just the same picture you see on the analog.
Wait, so Cox is using a faux HD channel for CN...that's weird.

It's not Cox.

No Cox subscriber currently has CN HD. It's just how CN's "HD" channel is, period. It's the same case with MTV and a few others...

also, despite what the OP said, I highly doubt Cox will add CN HD for every single Cox subscriber. Cox in general operates at the pace of molasses. I'm in AZ, and it's even slower getting things added here.

Cox added CN HD back in February here. The only programming that actually airs in really for real HD on it is the You Are Here block. You'll notice the "In HD where available" that comes up on shows during it. Outside of this block, nothing airs in HD, even those shows, just Turner's crappy stretched HD that really isn't HD.

Makes you wonder if Pokemon will get shown in HD given the fact it just recently made the jump in Japan. Will it even get to retain the original aspect ratio at the least?

Oh well if some shows are in true HD, which ones are they please? Because all I know is that CN airs everything in Flex-O-Vision and its not really HD at all.
Batman: TBATB, The Secret Saturdays, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Ben 10: Alien Force during the YAH block (conveniently the only programs on CN with the "In HD" banner.)
