This one's gotta go up a mite early due to conflicts tomorrow. Hope you don't mind.

I have a feeling Zabuza does mind, though. *scurries off*

Last time on Naruto:

Team 7 concludes the latest of a series of mundane missions, this one involving tracking down a lost cat that despises Naruto. Naruto is frustrated by the missions, wanting to do something far greater and more dangerous. The Hokage decides to oblige Naruto's spirit and assigns Team 7 to guard Tazuna, a bridge-builder, back to the Land of Waves. When the missions gets underway though, the mission turns out to be far more dangerous than anticipated when a pair of ninja ambush the group and apparently kill Kakashi. Naruto freezes up, and receives a poisoned wound on his hand. Sasuke, for his part, dashes around the battlefield, but is unable to completely halt the attackers' onslaught until Kakashi returns, revealing the illusion of his death. Kakashi then says that he suspects that the ninja were after Tazuna, and says that this mission has become a lot more dangerous than the terms indicated. Naruto has none of it and cuts open the wound on his hand, vowing to protect Tazuna no matter how dangerous the mission is.

No spoilers: No talk of future arcs, events, etc! All spoiler talk must be taken to the anime forum or through pm! Please have respect for all new viewers or else Zabuza will be coming for YOU. Believe it!

Enjoy the episode. Sleep is always for the weak.

So this is his town.

If you live to see the dawn, it's because he allows it.

He's in charge of everything.

He decides who lives or who dies.

OKAY, FINE, THEY'LL STAY!! NO NEED TO DRIVE IT IN FURTHER!!

Well, that's one rabbit who won't hurt anyone ever again.

Sharingan is mentioned...

And there it is!

One of the most broken abilities in the series.

Ya know, rewatching the show.... all this information about the Sharingan, Kakashi and Zabuza'a reputation and the Land of Waves could've just been summarized in a few sentences worth of lines. It sounds like everyone is just repeating the information they all just said.

And apparently this episode covered only 2 chapters of the manga. That's as slow as an episode of Bleach!

Admittedly, it can depend on the manga itself, but two chapters of manga per episode, comparatively, isn't that bad (The One Piece anime frequently does one chapter per episode to disastrous effect).

The reason the Bleach anime is slow, despite covering two chapters per episode, is because the manga itself is so poorly paced.

So Sauske was so freaked out by Zazuba attacking, that he would rather diei? No wonder people say he's emo.

he doesnt do that all the time though. He is only really emo for during the five kage summit arc to the end of the itachi kabuto fight in 4th world war. I mean he end up smiling like a mad man when bleeding out of his eye when he fights garra at the summit. Thats really being emo.

Yeah, I get how the pacing of a show can vary on where it was adapted from and by how much is adapted per episode. But regardless in retrospect, especially after how far into the story Naruto is, *sigh* ...it feels really slow and unnecessary to be so talkative and even exaggerate these bits of information early into the series. Like for instance, "the sharingan is a rare and powerful dojustu residing in the eyes of the uchiha clan and can copy everything to the last detail and blah blah blah, blah blah, blah blah!" Like, what the hell? It sounds like listening to someone reading a manual. And rare and powerful my ass! Yeah, it's rare and powerful as well as dozens of other ones!

I dunno. It just makes me wish that while I love seeing stories like these adapted to an anime, you would wish people in Japan wouldn't be so eager to get what may likely be a long-running series going or else stuff like what happens in Naruto and Bleach and other shonen with the pacing and filler arcs occur.

Well, thanks to some lameness, I missed the majority of the episode. I caught the end, but only the last few moments :(

I figured that. But I couldn't pass up the opportunity.

If by broken you mean it really hurts the user to the point where he's forced to endure prolonged hospital stays, then sure. :p

No one made an Assassin's Creed reference? For shame :p

In any case, how was the episode? I missed a good chunk of it (read: most of it). Is it worth checking out again?>

It wasn't bad, but I definitely prefer the next one.

While it does has it's drawbacks, the sharingan gets really ridiculous later on.

Aw man, I remember first seeing this episode back in middle school when it first aired on Toonami, me and my friends thought he (Zabuza) was just a BAMF. Then, Iook at him now and I'm like, really?

Only for kakashi... the uchiha on the otherhand, get all of the benefits and then some with none of the drawbacks.

I suppose the best time to watch the show is when one is 16, when one can truly appreciate the flavor more.
