"The Engagement"

Broadcast Order: Season 1, Episode 1
Production Order: Season 1, Episode 1

Writer: Lalo Alcaraz & Mark Hentemann
Director: Jacob Hair

A brand new FOX animated series makes its world television debut tonight at 9:30 PM Eastern. Created by Mark Hentemann and executive produced by Seth MacFarlane, the show will follow two families living in a Southwest desert town on the border between the U.S. and Mexico. The show has been in development for a while and delayed several times until its premiere tonight.

Bud Buckwald is furious when he learns that his daughter Becky is engaged to Ernesto Gonzalez's nephew J.C.

Well that was ehh, wasn't the worst thing I saw and was more engaging then a the Family Guy episode I just saw so there is that. So gonna go with the AV club C-

Well thought the wedding situation was like Romeo and Juliet, but its good romance wasn't too much otherwise I'm sure it would of been disgusting here, while the episode itself its alright enough said, not sure what more is to expect from this show I will still watch just to see what goes on.

There were a few genuine laughs, mostly to do with JC's college pretension, but I have a hard time believing I'll really connect with these characters. Way too heavily based on obvious stereotypes (on a MacFarlane show of all places - shocking, I know), and mostly annoying voices to go with it (Hank Azaria didn't even bother to come up with a new voice for Bud - it's just Comic Book Guy).

That said, I remember feeling the same way about American Dad when it started, and it went on to become the funniest show on Sunday nights for many years. It's hard for me to see these characters transcending stereotypes the way American Dad's did.

It's rare to find an adult cartoon that's good in the first episode, so I'll watch the next two episodes to see if it improves.

Yeah, I think it'll do well if it catches fire. I liked 3 South.

"Borderwall"

Broadcast Order: Season 1, Episode 2
Production Order: Season 1, Episode 1

Writer: Lalo Alcaraz & Mark Hentemann
Director: Albert Calleros

A new episode airs tonight at 9:30 PM Eastern. Here's the synopsis:

Bud uses confiscated drug money to build a border wall.

Definitely an improvement over last week. It still has a way to go but I'm sure it can make it.

Yeah, this one had more hits than misses. The jokes even felt more rapid-fire.

For this series all I can say it reminds me of this song

Bordertown, easily my favorite hilarious best new show after Axe Cop/Mike Tyson Mysteries, it has hilarious jokes/gags that made me laugh, hahahahaha.

The first two episodes were great/hilarious,

The highlights:

Both Bud/Ernesto were great funniest protagonists, both Bud Buckwald/Pepito the bratty son the best funniest jerkwad protagonists next to Bart/Lisa, Dexter(Dexter's Laboratory), Mr. Kat(Agent 27B), Dan(Dan Vs.), Louise Belcher, and Gumball/Darwin:D, and Gert/Becky the next best funniest likable daughters better than Meg/Roberta Tubbs, hehehe.

Surprised me that Becky was from 3 South, sweet.

El Coyote/Pablo Barracuda were awesome enjoyable villains, El Coyote always beating/one-upping Bud was so hilarious, hahahahahaha:p, best villain to win, hehehe.

Ernesto killing the random hawk and the mother hawk capturing poor Bud, so funny, hahahahahaha.

The Mayor a criminal/dirtbag, funny, hehehe.

Both Bud and Steve the boss being villainous on their smuggling crimes was enjoyable.

Both Hank Azaria, Alex Borstein, Missi Pyle, and Carlos Alazraqui were awesome in the roles, Hank would've used a different voice for Bud instead of his funny Comic Book Guy voice, oh well.

"MegaChurch"

Broadcast Order: Season 1, Episode 3
Production Order: Season 1, Episode 8

Writer: Valentina L. Garza
Director: Gavin Dell

A new episode airs tonight at 9:30 PM Eastern. Here's the synopsis:

The reverend of Bud's megachurch wants Bud to recruit Ernesto in hopes of collecting more money from the growing Mexican population.

This show is basically King of The Hill if it was written by Seth Macflarene

Tonight's episode was quite funny. I was laughed plenty.

On a sidenote, I watched 3 South earlier this week and was surprised to discover that Becky was on that show first! I hope Mark Hentemman includes some more 3 South character appearances in future episodes.

This show is getting better, especially at the absurd humor. I got plenty of laughs from this episode, especially the "Shoot the Scientist" bit.

"Groundhog Day"

Broadcast Order: Season 1, Episode 5
Production Order: Season 1, Episode 5

Writer: Kenny Byerly
Director: Oreste Canestrelli

A new episode airs tonight at 9:30 PM Eastern. Here's the synopsis:

The Mexifornia population tips from white majority to Latino majority when Maria's sister has a baby.

So many funny gags in this episode (wheelchair goal kicking, Mexican Shark Tank, etc.) The ending was hilarious, too.

Bordertown is getting better. I am worried that FOX is moving this show to the 7pm "death slot". I hope they give it a chance for another season.

I think this episode should of aired in Valentines day due to the love that Bud tried so hard to do, but glad he was successful for most of the goals he had in this episode.

It sucks that it's moving to the death slot, as this show continues to get better. Hopefully it can survive, since it's being advertised that it's moving. Plus, nothing good comes on at 7pm anyway. I wonder what will take up the 9:30 slot, though....

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
