Best Buy Anime Sale

I dropped into Best Buy last night and I really didn't see anything that I wanted or needed, but there was at least 4 or 5 people browsing the anime section and all of them had product in their hands. It was refreshing to see and even with the big sale going on I can imagine that both the retailer and the licensing companies are making a profit off of the DVD's, or at least I would hope so, so I think they should do sales like this more often. It's obviously doing pretty good for them and more people are inclined to purchase the DVD's instead of illegally streaming them if the DVD's were cheaper, I hope they keep it up.
I agree, more sales! :D

Having sales like this requires Best Buy and other retailers to acknowledge that there is an interest in such things. Companies will do whatever they can to make a profit. If Best Buy, FYE, and other retailers see that they can increase the units sold by having sales on anime, you can bet that they will be interested in a large selection and reasonable prices. In other words, it requires effort from both the companies and the consumers. Feedback from consumers is a great resource for companies, so again, if you have any suggestions, fill out the survey connected to the link listed on each Best Buy receipt. I have every one of my loyal Best Buy customers and also friends who shop at Best Buy filling out the survey so that the company gets feedback. There's no such thing as bad feedback. There's poor thought-out feedback, but not necessarily bad feedback. Please, if you do fill out the survey, be descriptive and specific so that what you want fully registers with those who read them. :D

Back to the sale talk:

The sale has been going over quite well at my store, and it appears to be going well at the other decently stocked Best Buy locations in my area. While I would like some sort of advertisement, I suppose simply telling the customers about it and printing out ISP signs (the smaller white tags with the small Best Buy logo containing the price on them) will have to do for now. Remember, the sale's final day is August 28, 2010.

In case no one has posted about this yet, Bandai, as of about a month ago, has jumped into the value anime business with Best Buy exclusives re-releases, much like ADV did last summer with their varied thinpaks. Well, not so much jumped as they have strolled I suppose. Last month, they re-released the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion Part One Limited Edition for $9.99. That's right. What was normally $69.99 at Best Buy is now $60 cheaper. Last week saw the re-release of Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny Final Plus, reduced from $29.99 to $4.99. I'm not sure if Bandai plans on re-releasing one of their collections/discs every month, but so far, their deals aren't bad at all. If new re-releases appear, I will make note of it in this thread.

I totally got that Code Geass set for $10 bucks last month. I would have mentioned it, but I thought it was a deal at my "local" Best Buy. Even if you're waiting for a complete series/season set, I'd buy this. You get the first 9 episodes, 2 CD's, a manga volume, and a sweet box.

Anyway, this sale is still going until the end of the month? Maybe I'll be able to get over to a Best Buy while I still can.

Yes, the sale runs until August 28, 2010.

Is there a link for that Code Geass deal? Or should I just walk into my local store and see if I get lucky?

Yeah, but it makes me mad. There is no way to look up these "Anime Treasure Bin" titles in RSS to see if there are any future titles coming, as right now, it is just those two. It sucks because I just have this feeling now that I have bought Gundam SEED, Zeta, and 00 that at least one of those series are going to start showing up for like $10. One thing that annoys me is we were told that OMS was going to allow employee discount to be used on .com, and yet, I still have to pay full price for my 00 DVDs.

Best Buy has never been very good with logic when it comes to certain things, and other processes can take time.

The Bandai deals seem to be in-store only for now.

Not sure if it appears on their website anymore, I wasn't lucky enough to find one in store :(

With any luck, replenishment will ship. We've actually received replenishment for the Code Geass set twice. Keep your fingers crossed and keep checking back.

Can't keep checking back on it though, the nearest Best Buy is like 45 mins away, and I don't get up there often enough, just wish they could display it on there site, but the next time I do go I will look, thanks for update on getting more shipments of it.

I'm going to see what I can scoop up today because I need to hit up Best Buy to pick up the new Casshern Sins release, so I may as well see what I can grab on sale while it lasts. I'm kind of excited to visit the store today, I think I'm having a "childhood moment" for whatever reason. :anime:

Welp, picked up Sgt Frog Season 2 Volume 2. Wish the other sets were on sale so I could get them at a halfway decent price.

Wish the other sets were there PERIOD, come to think of it.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
