"Bugs Bunny Is Hosting This Year’s Annecy Animation Festival"

"The Annecy Animation Festival, which you can think of as an E3 for cartoons, is held in France every year…but this time, they’ve landed an emcee to be envious of. Bugs Bunny himself will be hosting the presentation, and he’s brought ALL his corporate-related friends…

Pretty cool, right? (Also, how many thought Bugs was about to say the animators weren’t available because they were on strike? I’ve seen too many of those Umbert Actually videos.) The 15-second spot was created by Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, directed by Grant Orchard (Hey Duggee) and executive produced by Ben Bocquelet (The Amazing World of Gumball). Eric Bauza provided Bugs’ voice.

Annecy has also announced who will be attending and what they’ll be showing off. Warner Bros Animation, obviously, will have a presence and will present the following panels…

  • Creating Creativity: Celebrating 25 Years of Cartoon Network Studios – Creators Genndy Tartakovsky (Dexter’s Laboratory), Craig McCracken (The Powerpuff Girls), Pendleton Ward (Adventure Time), Rebecca Sugar (Steven Universe), J.G. Quintel (Regular Show), and Adam Muto (Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake) will discuss the history, future, and enduring legacy of CNS.
  • Get Jiro: Work in Progress Session – From WBA and based on the DC/Vertigo graphic novel, Get Jiro is set in a not-too-distant future Los Angeles where master chefs rule the town and people literally kill for a seat at the best restaurants. The creative team will explore the creative and production process of bringing the graphic novel to life.
  • Bat-Fam: Making-Of Session – Following the events of Merry Little Batman, Bat-Fam follows Batman, Alfred, and young Damian Wayne. The creative team will share a behind-the-scenes look into the artistic development and production of the series.
  • Studio Spotlight – WBA, CNS, and HBSE will showcase their slate of current and upcoming film and series projects. Industry insights, news, and exclusive first looks will be shared.
  • Adult Animation at Warner Bros. Discovery – Studio Focus – Adult Swim and WBA spotlight their strategy and efforts in the adult animation space. Michael Ouweleen and Peter Girardi will preview current and upcoming projects."

The Studio Spotlight for WBA, CNS, and HBSE takes place on June 11th. What are your predictions?

Not sure where to add this, the Paramount Animation panel at Annecy will feature two new animated shorts. SpongeBob: Order Up, directed by Sean Charmatz and TMNT: Chrome Alone 2 – Lost in New Jersey, directed by Kent Seki.
Since I already mentioned them here, the shorts will be released theatrically,.

“Order Up,” a dialogue-free SpongeBob short directed by Sean Charmatz (“Orion and the Dark”), will debut in front of “Smurfs” in July. The slapstick comedy had been sitting in the Nickelodeon/Paramount vault for nearly a decade.

The second short, “Chrome Alone 2: Lost in New Jersey,” is a “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” tale directed by Kent Seki. With a visual style similar to Jeff Rowe’s “Mutant Mayhem,” this installment takes a comedic look at artificial intelligence and will premiere alongside the new SpongeBob film in December.

Nothing for Looney Tunes for the second year. And the people online think WBD is going to sell the franchise if no new TV shows gets made. But do I think WB is taking a break from the Tunes or they are waiting to get something in development?

Possible they are waiting to see how Coyote Vs Acme will do.

There are several LT films in development at Pictures Animation, it's just the TV animation division that doesn't have anything with thise characters right now, a casualty of the decline of the 6-11 series market.

Which I think WB should reassess that the Looney Tunes should not ride or die on a primary kids demographic. It appeals to children and adults. Can’t force them into one camp, and adult animation has their own thing. The executives need to fix this if the Looney Tunes are going to thrive especially since adults are the big draw in physical media these days.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
