Animaniacs (2020) News & Discussion Thread

It's rather odd when the character Nora Rita Norita was revealed for this reboot, on some websites people acted like she was as hot and attractive as Hello Nurse and Jessica Rabbit.

Nora is a very different character from those two.
she's not hot okay? She's just not the same as thaddeus plotz which I might think he's at the retirement home right now.

I've finally got to see the new Animaniacs without subscribing Hulu and enjoy it very much. The animation looks fantastic. Different art style, but not too bad. It's also great to see Pinky and the Brain again. My dad loves Pinky and the Brain. One thing I'm disappointed that they didn't include the Goodfeathers, Rita and Runt, Slappy Squirrel, and etc even though they were in one episode one time. And I'm also a little bit concern that they maybe a little bit too political, although they may have done that in the 90s too. I do love the cartoon rights segment. Great to see the characters from Looney Tunes, Tiny Toons, and Hanna Barbera. I laugh so hard when they make fun of that terrible show, Loonatics Unleashed. Any way, I'm glad I've got to see the new Animaniacs and I heard they're going to have more episodes soon. But, I'm afraid I have to wait longer when it comes to Itunes.

What are you talking about she has alot of naughty fanart.

about animaniacs revival(yakko, wakko and dot segments):
- every episode written by andrew barbot and jess lacher dot will act as a loud feminist with a social comment in it
- every episode written by lucas crandles and timothy nash is old school yakko wakko and dot segment with a social comment in it.
- every episode written by kathleen chen and brian polk is something new never seeing before on a yakko wakko and dot segment with a social comment in it
-every episode written by greg white, wellesley wild,Eric Branscum, ben warheit,Brad Deprima and jordan vandina is old school yakko wakko dot segment(crazy and funny shenanigans)

What I find interesting about this teaser is that the animation looks different, as in not as lively as what we've seen from the other studios. Maybe this is the work farmed out by one of the Korean studios providing animation for the series (Saerom, eMation, and Tiger). It somewhat reminds me of Yearim's work on Looney Tunes Cartoons; kind of sub-par.

Anyway, I can relate to Wakko in this teaser; I'm so stoked for this! Can't wait to see some more new characters.

The Korean animation? I'm glad to see that. Not as lively, but not as stiff either. I mean, at least there's hardly anything puppetlike used for Tonic DNA, Titmouse or sometimes Snipple.
But I don't want to see those studios get fired like they did with Yearim.

The animation doesn't look all that different to me...

season 2: "some rejected Animaniacs characters that were left on the cutting room floor." will appear

i hope smakky appear in season 2
(smakky warner was the rejected warner brother who has an ill temper personality) who in the pitch bible looks like he has a grudge against yakko

Hmm....interesting. New 'old' characters, so to speak.

I hope some of the characters from the original show return as more then just cameos.

I really hope that they actually use unused characters from the original series (like the Bossy Beaver & Doyle, and their "damn dam," and that La Tidga figure) and don't just simply create fake ones just for the segment that they're supposedly gonna be appearing in.

Yeah, it's pretty subtle. Compare the animation on the tablet which is archived footage from Season 1 to the main animation of the teaser. It doesn't look as Flash-y as Titmouse's output, nor as kinetic as Snipple's, even during their animation bumps. Semi-limited, if you may.

On a side note, Yakko and Wakko seem to be permanently drawn with fangs, while the other studios we've seen tend to draw them with tooth strips, or both in one segment. Maybe this is a possible way to distinguish the reboot's studios? We'll find out when the episodes come out.

Many of the shorts are just unfunny satire which was never the strongsuit of the warners. Typically the shorts would involve how much the warners irritated other characters and disrupted plots. They don't really do that anymore. Plots run smoothly and they are usually the ones mocking the other characters. The only short that I feel was done remotely well was the one involving Tucker Carlson as it wasn't explicitly telling you what to think. The music in this new series is also not very good. It's had all the energy sucked out of it. Just compare the amount of energy in the old songs compared to the current ones. As you have noted the format is now drastically limited thanks to the removal of other characters.
