Basically, Marvel and DC merged their universes and characters for a joke as a tie-in to the Marvel vs. DC event back in 1996.

It's a shame IMHO that while DC still does a bunch of crossovers with other comics companies, the same cannot be said of Marvel post-Disney buyout. We'll probably never get the Amalgam comics reprinted in the foreseeable future. The prices for the existing collected books secondhand are all over the place, but I'd think the single issues are still pretty cheap.

The Amalgam books are such cheese, but man oh man, do I love them. Slowly tracking them down and to see the talent they got on the books is fantastic.
