Okay, I admit my ignorance. There's something I don't understand, how could Yamcha wet his pants at the mere sight of a pretty girl, and yet still be a thief? I mean all one would have to do, to protect one's self from thieves is be escorted by an attractive lady?

Yamcha had a fear of girls, he was still only seventeen in early Dragonball. Once he finally got over his fear he seemingly became a ladiesman, unless that was just more dub stuff.

He was a desert bandit early on. I don't know how many women typically trek across the desert. Maybe it was a truck route or something. Even Oolong knew to avoid that particular desert.

After Yamucha fought in the 21st Tenkaichi Budokai, he became a popular figure amongst the girls in Metro West.

DB was more comedy and less serious then Z. So things like a desert bandit freeking out over cute girls was ment to be a joke.
