If I had a nickel for every Chris Sanders animated movie that got a live action adaptation this year...something something, two nickels, you know the rest.
I don't think it's unreasonable to say that all of us animation fans have fantasized about working at the big studios like Cartoon Network and Disney when we were younger at one point or another. Some of the discourse I've seen online from professionals in the industry, however, has been so volatile, hopeless or downright negative that it's affirmed the path that I've taken my career.
I know the point of their recent video was to highlight the loss of the studios as opposed to the channel, but there's something about Animation Workers Ignited making the hashtag "RIPCartoonNetwork" trend that does not sit right with me at all. Even if they claim "CN is essentially dead!", that's still misinformation.
I would like studio executives to oversee a merger between an unwavering respect for the media arts and a singular brain cell, please.
If the WGA and SAG's victories are indicative of anything, it's that The Animation Guild must go on strike when their contract is up in 2024. This is long, long long overdue.
