Alright, I'm ten episodes in, and I actually love this show! I came in thinking I'd hate it, but my expectations were dashed in the best way possible. It started out a little rough, but it really came into its own after episode four. My favorite episode is definitely I'm YAY-OK, You're Not YAY-OK, I've seen Oscar-nominated movies that write angst worse than Gus in this episode. I hate the chud guy from Tail Fail.
So when I wrote this, I hadn't yet made it to episode 11b, Home on the Strange. Now I get what everyone was talking about, that episode just sorta sucked. My favorite character is Yay-OK, but I've grown to like the monkeys a little more, especially Gus (I'm reading through some old forum posts on here and my inside voice is literally just Yay-OK help).
I just finished season 1. I really like how they're fleshing out the minor characters. Most of the character development is with the gorillas, although I'd like to see more of what Slo-Mo's character is like. The pacing is noticably slower and more realistic compared to the first half, where 6 hours felt like just 1. The toilet humor was ramped up to 11 in this section, although not as much as S2 or the infamous S3.
I'm done with season 2 now, and it sure changed. The infamous toilet humor became more prominent here, and Wally got flanderized a bit, but overall it's still good! My favorite episode is now definitely Rock On!, the one where Wally falls in love with a musical rock and Gus gets really, really jealous. (side note: Tubi had this season in PAL pitch for some reason. I ain't complainin'.) I also watched the movie too...
...So, Terrors and Tiaras. I never really expected there to be a Rocket Monkeys TV movie, but anything is possible, I guess. The plot (GASI agents get abducted by an evil princess and turned into monsters) seems kinda random for a show like this, but I dig it. My main problem is that felt more like a really long episode than a movie. Overall, it was pretty good, I'd recommend it for... someone.
