  • Sometimes the hardest part about being a comic book fan is liking and being a fan of so many different characters.
I really dislike it when people call Green Lantern: The Animated Series a failure. It wasn't a failure, outside forces failed it.

I love that show so much and the lack of season two will forever make me a sad panda.
What do Wonder Woman, Thor, and Captain America have in common? They're the only members of their respective trinity who've never had a show

Well "cartoon" show. Wonder Woman at least got live action. Cap came close, but his pilot was terrible.

Well, despite the limited animation techniques used, Captain America and the Mighty Thor had their 13 episodes-long runs on the 60s Marvel Super Heroes Show. Since Cap's segments were aired on Mondays, he was basically the first Marvel character to have his own cartoon show, which seems kind of fitting now.
With Gravity Falls gone, I'm going to miss that dose of mystery, weirdness, comedy, and heart that it always provided in my life.
The only thing that takes me out of the Christopher Priest Black Panther run, which is amazing, is T'Challa being bald and having a goatee.

I know Kaine had a lot of facial hair at some point, and so did MC2 Peter, but obviously they weren't the "real McCoy."

I would assume it was an attempt at a "street-level," "basic," approach to T'Challa to see what he would be like or react in that kind of situation, however odd it was for him.

I think I recall reading an interview with Priest where he mentioned Marvel asking him to make Panther be more "street."
I'm going to miss the Bumbleking Forum. I wasn't as active on it as I would've liked, but it was always a welcoming and fun forum to be on.
Do you think Roberts and Roche planned to release stories about past sins and mentally forced revelations around the same time or was it just a lucky coincidence?

Given they have collaborated in the past, and in a story that dealt with those same issues, I could see it being intentional or just a lucky coincidence brought on by writers who like to approach similar issues.
The soundtrack for the Transformers '86 movie' still got it.

I saw the movie years later on VHS, so I had no idea who any of these characters were or why they were dying so suddenly. It was just cool as crap. And then Beast Wars came out and I was hooked. I think my cousin had the same reaction to Man of Steel. He was about the same age I was when he saw it and didn't know what was going on, but knew it was "serious" and "cool."

Actually, that pretty accurately describes my introduction to the franchise as well, first watching the movie and then Beast Wars.

Though I also purchased the a VHS with "More Then Meets the Eye" and some season 2 episodes as well as a VHS spotlighting the Dinobots not long after which is what got me into G1.
You watch enough formulaic shows, sometimes you grow very tired of it. Or in my case, continue to accept and enjoy it. I'm weird that way.
Ever have that moment when something you really like is called cheesy by someone else and you never realized it? That happens to me a lot.

I start with assumption that no one like's what I do so I'm never surprised.
The feeling of irony when you have a complete season of something on itunes but end up watching it free on TV can be very painful...
What did you think about Megatronus in Robots in Disguise?
    JoeMabbon
    JoeMabbon
He revealed that he caused the crash too suddenly and cavalierly. I actually kind of assumed there was a little more going on there, but then he just says "I did it." and that's that. It reminded me of Loki being behind the breakout in Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The answer to a big, season long question comes too quickly and winds up muting the impact.

I liked his design too. Would've been neat if he had set himself ablaze towards the end of the fight.

Megatronus may be blander than a dried piece of toast, but dang do I want his Toys R Us' exclusive action figure. That helmet, yo.
It just doesn't pay to be certain comic book characters.

Well, I think it can apply to quite a few characters depending on how you look at it, but I primarily meant Hawkman.
    JoeMabbon
    JoeMabbon
Hawkman's been put down since Super Friends. It feels like no one knew what to do with the Avengers throughout the 90s and early 00s. And now the X-Men and the Fantastic Four are in a very rough patch. Man, being a comic book superhero is really tough when you think about it.

I'm starting to think we'll never see Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers air over here and that dub will remain Malaysia only.

I keep forgetting to check out that show. I was always under the belief that Marvel/Disney would never put that show out because it clashed too much with their current cartoons.
The recent ongoing announcement makes me wonder if we'll ever see the Thunderbolts proper in animation. Or a Thunderbolts cartoon?

Tell me about it. Same with books that actually last past 50 issues with all the relaunches/reboots that happen these days. Something making it to triple digits is kinda a miracle in today's market.

Hmm...I assume if 'Bee is a stand-in for RID, then the other would have to represent MTMTE, and that would probably range from Rodimus, Magnus, Ratchet, or even Megatron.

You got it! The "prodigal son." As much as I like Rodimus's current design, I like Nick Roche's take on the Costa era even more. Only wish they'd had more time to play with the post-war divide between Rodimus and Bee.
Do you have a favorite G1 Transformers episode?

Ooh...that's tough. I'm terrible with favorites. I guess I'd have to just go with the original "More than Meets the Eye" 3-parter.

I also like "War Dawn," which is probably a common answer for a lot of fans, though I also like some of the kookier episodes like "A Decepticon Raider in King Arthur's Court" or "Auto-Bop."

More than Meets the Eye is solid. I love Key to Vector Sigma as well. Fire in the Sky is great too, has my favorite Optimus/Megatron fight of the series (excluding the film). From Season 3, I love Dweller in the Depths and Webworld.
It's kinda weird how the classic G.I. Joe cartoon seems split on who the "lead" Joe is between Duke and Flint, then Hawk once he shows up.

They had to choose between three heroes and I think they ultimately came to the right decision: Snake Eyes.
