Anime-inspired Scooby series: "Yokoso Scooby-Doo!"

This is the first I have heard of this project. I have to say I am very happy it has not been cancelled and is on its way to streaming and TV sooner rather than later. While I am not a big fan of leaving the rest of the Gang out of the main cast, an anime take on the Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby-Doo holds a lot of promise. Will definitely be keeping my eyes out for more info going forward.

Wasn't expecting Scooby on Tubi but happy to hear some sort of update on the show. Great to hear Lillard & Welker will be back, too.

Also noticed the supporting cast names were changed from the initial synopsis, from Etsuko and Toshiro, to Yume and Takumi.

"We finally have a visual for that mysterious Scooby Doo anime that first surfaced in 2024 under the title Go-Go Mystery Machine. The final title is Yokoso Scooby-Doo! and it should take the franchise to places it’s never been. Like, wow!

Any Scooby series has to feature Scooby and Shaggy at bare minimum, and this does so but switches out their entire other cast for newbies. Scoob and Shag have an excuse for the absences of Mystery Inc — they just came to Japan as tourists and never intended to be solving mysteries. The other Yanks are holding down the fort at home.

But in Japan Scooby can rely on another one of his relatives to help…his uncle Daisuke-Doo. There are also two anime staple characters to fill the Daphne and Velma roles: Yume, described as a magical girl, and Takumi, said to be a gizmo building genius."

First up was Yokoso Scooby-Doo!, the first proper anime starring the famous Great Dane. The show will follow Shaggy and Scooby traveling through Japan and fighting all sorts of monsters inspired by Japanese culture. The series is animated by OLM (Oriental Light and Magic), the studio known for Pokémon, which explains why it prominently features monsters being caught in balls. Footage from the show featured a new anime-styled Shaggy, but the same old Scooby.

“We didn’t really change the design that much,” Senior Vice President of Current Series at Warner Bros. Animation Jay Bastian said. “You don’t really mess around with perfection.”

I wouldn't want Shaggy & Scooby-Doo interact with Ghost Pokemon. Especially if they were in the Deadwood Haunt.
