Cartoon Network International News Thread 27.0

Warner Bros Discovery Latin America has picked up the forthcoming eighth season of espionage-themed animated children’s series Totally Spies! and renewed Italian cartoon Topo Gigio for Discovery Kids.

The deals were struck by Banijay Kids & Family, which also revealed further sales of children’s programming from its catalogue.

Does this mean that WBD in EMEA, APAC and the U.S. will also pick up Totally Spies! season eight?

Let’s see what’ll happen later. Maybe they might take it only for the US and EMEA. This is just prediction.

Depending on whether you count all the classics or not, which rotate nearly weekly, CN WE has 21 shows:
  • Adventure Time
  • Bunnicula
  • Clarence
  • Courage the Cowardly Dog
  • Cow & Chicken
  • Craig of the Creek
  • Dexter's Laboratory
  • Goat Girl
  • The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe
  • Jade Armor
  • Lana Longbeard
  • Looney Tunes Cartoons
  • Powerpuff Girls
  • Regular Show
  • Regular Show: The Lost Tapes
  • Steven Universe
  • Teen Titans Go!
  • The Amazing World of Gumball
  • The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball
  • Totally Spies
  • Uncle Grandpa

I absolutely have to agree, in terms of presentation both channels are absolutely boring and bland and have been better before the merges to some extent, in my opinion

But in terms of programming and events, CN WE (and CEE) still do a good job. They have enough events for the whole summer (maybe even too many, as a fellow duck in this thread rightfully thinks)

And even though 4 out of 5 of these stunts are recycled, it's still decent enough:

  • Best Summer Ever (general promotion of the summer schedule, June/July/August)
  • Summer with Gumball (slightly increased Gumball airings throughout the whole schedule, June/July)
  • Travel the Creek (4 selected episodes of Craig of the Creek per day, from Monday, June 22nd to Sunday, 28th, WE only)
  • "Top Plans" or whatever they're gonna call it (each day has a different summer plan with selected episodes, from Monday, July 13th, airing all July, Monday to Friday)
  • Summer Festival (selected episodes to fit the musical/summer theme, airing from Saturday, August 15th, weekends)
THATS WHY HE’S THE GOAT

Also, can you elaborate on what Top Plans is because that’s a pretty vague description

It's a programming block that consists of a different show daily, airing weekdays (on CEE at least) for almost one hour. Basically a longer bill of a show that rotates/changes everyday and will likely have themed episodes (and will also have some returning shows for the occasion, not in the regular schedule at the time)

I think this is it

If I remember correctly this block was originally a block on CN Portugal called "Planos+top"

Oh that’s so dead. Also when does Summer Festival happen because that sounds awesome

Rotating the shows is more exciting than having a programming block with the same regular schedule they actually did a lot some years ago. I hoped for it to be more than an hour. Doing it is not dead although they seem to run out of ideas by copying CN PT stuff from years ago. The feeds seem to also be less active but not as bad as the final years for most local feeds.

Marathons of the same shows that CN EMEA has been in love with for years yet again sounds pretty dead, especially when I’m coming from CN UK where all they’ve been doing is marathons. That’s not to mention that even now, they air hour long blocks of TTG, Gumball and others, so not that special

But the promo they made for it is awesome, I’ll give you that

Because they are playing too safe. Most channels now marathon shows so they can overall look still healthy when it comes to ratings. Although I do think they should give more shows a chance to grow so they can gain fandoms.

Summer Festival reminds me of something... (yes, I know another Summer Festival appeared in 2025, quite detached from this Comedy Summer Festival)
:D

CN Africa dodged it because the rift with NL-CEE-PL-RSEE opened as they etched closer to German management. All of the feeds I mentioned rebranded before December 7, 2010 and used the grayer "dirty bug"

I'm sorry what

What the article is insinuating is that non-WBD-owned third-party programming on Cartoon Network and Cartoonito could potentially be on the cutting block in the aftermath of the WBD–Paramount merger if said merger closes. But they'd still need to find some programming to comply with EU content quotas for the TV channels that are based in Europe.

Meanwhile, Cartoon Network Studios is a de facto label of Warner Bros. Animation (with both being under WBD's Warner Bros. Television Group umbrella alongside Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe), Nickelodeon Animation Studios is functionally a unit of CBS Studios, and Nickelodeon's live-action productions are now all handled under Paramount Television Studios. This ensures that Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon's fully owned in-house programming (which makes up pretty much all of their actually important stuff) more or less remains unscathed after the merger.

The less we talk about what may happen if the merger is happening, the better IMO

This is related.

Billy and Mandy, and Flapjack will arrive to HBO Max CEE on 12 July. Lucky for those who have a subscription, as I'm not one of them.

I am surprised that only two classics are added for now. I know that they won't be the only ones which HBO Max CEE will release, but still. Was expecting to start up a bit stronger. But I am not really complaining

He will update the article if more CN Classics release in July. I read it carefully.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
