Mike Myers is working on Austin Powers 4

I remember past articles where Myers states 4 would be more Dr. Evil-centric. I guess he was laying low since Kanye?

Well, he got so much criticism over the third film, he lost his momentum on the fourth film at the script stage. He did seem enthused early on, even rumors of Jennifer Lopez as his Powers-girl and of course possibly taking place in the 80's. The rumors went everywhere from another villain who was a breakdancer and all-kinda stuff. Mind you, this was around the time of press-junkets before the film was released, so who knows.

If they bring back Rob Lowe as the young Number 2, I'm there.

It kind of feels like the ship has finally sailed on Austin Powers. It just doesn't seem like the series is that big of a deal anymore. The first one is still funny, but the sequels just didn't cut it. I like Mike Myers, but it just seems like he's kind of lost his touch these days. The last really good thing he did, I thought, was So I Married An Axe Murderer.

Last thing? That movie predated Austin Powers.

Austin Powers was great in its time, but I honestly don't think the films have really aged all that well. Myers would have to pull off a miracle to make his character feel welcome to a new generation, which would prove even more challenging since Goldmember was a letdown.

Powers has pretty much served his purpose in parodying James Bond, but that's really all he can do. He already mocked everything about that character; what else is there to make fun of?

No, I don't think Powers should be brought back. Just let it stay a decent trilogy without sinking its ship.

Jeez, am I the only one who found the third film to be the funniest of the three?

I'm not asking for more Austin Powers, but I'd probably see it since the movies are so packed with jokes it's a guaranteed laugh.

But you know who really want's to see a new Austin Powers movie?
Mike Myers.
No one is more bemused by his on screen antics then the man himself, and that's wearing thin.
I swear, If I was told he doesn't have two laptops so he can make Skype calls to himself, I'd refuse to believe it.
Yet if a new Austin Powers movie is in the works it's no time to change his act.

Why? He wasn't at all to blame for that. Cat In The Hat and The Love Guru however...

The move to make Austin 4 a more Dr Evil-centric film would be the way to go. I found the title character to be too stale and boring. Dr. Evil and his crew were usually much more entertaining than Austin himself. But, I felt Mike Myers deliberately steered the train off the tracks in the third film to prevent further sequels.

I was going to call him desperate for digging up an old character, but then I realized the TRULY desperate move for Meyers would be to bring back Wayne.

I never cared for Austin Powers much, any of them. I would see a sequel if it focused more on Dr. Evil and Seth Green's character.

Eh, I didn't really enjoy it. The first was fresh and funny and the sequel brought new concepts and ideas to the formula, but Goldmember didn't really do anything of note that felt fresh and the whole thing just felt tired to me.

I actually would rather a third Wayne's World movie at this point. Even if that would feel just as pointless.

Hmm...well, a fourth Powers could make fun of the darker, more serious turn of the Craig Bond films. :p

Do you guys realize what you're saying? Have you even watched Goldmember?

Jeez, am I the only one who found the third film to be the funniest of the three?

No, actually I don't consider it to be the funniest of the three. I think I might actually consider it to be the funniest movie that I've ever seen! I can't go five minutes at any point in the movie without cracking up. It's seriously one of the funniest movies that I've ever seen in my life.

Well Mike Myers is pretty much without a career at this point, so why not return to his only live action success.

That REALLY sucked.

Only success? The Wayne's World films were pretty successful too. And while it wasn't "his" movie, he was in Inglorious Basterds, which did quite well.

Turns out this may not actually be happening

Deadline are saying that Myers was made an offer six months ago but has not formally replied in the meantime. This doesn’t render HitFix’s report a sham, but does raise some questions. Specifically – who was their source and what was their source’s motivation? Not Myers’ camp testing the water, was it? Or just hearsay amongst industry folk, someone getting something wrong? Or what?

You're right. Most successful would be more correct. My bad.

sorry for bumping a nearly 16 year old thread but

given that new Verizon ad and the fact we got legacy sequels to parody films (scary movie 6 & spaceballs 2) and Shrek 5 (a film in the series that stars mike Myers) coming out, I love to see this happen

It amusing to see Dr. Evil periodically pop up in SNL skits and commercials. Keeps the torch lit. Verizon was pretty funny and meta as usual like when they're wondering who #2 is staring at.

Hi, welcome to Toonzone

There's something about seeing kids cry after they mess up big time that really gets to me. One can definitely feel bad for Layla.
I don't know I gonna post it but i think I may had spread the disney abandoning blue sky studios like they did with fox kids/jetix propaganda onto awinger24 and now hes fears of paramount & warner bros
Europeans right now are experiencing the same Heatwave that africans face on a daily basis lol
