Cartoon Network International News Thread 27.0

In Turkey, they constantly air Kral Şakir late at night, but this is due to a special situation caused by RTÜK (Radio and Television Supreme Council) in Turkey . I wish they would air programs from before 2010, or personally, I would prefer Gumball.
arabia Turkey and italy are two for one for airing mediocre content at night to fulfill quotas

Adventure Time: Side Quest (Turkish: Adventure Time: Yan Görevler) premieres on Cartoon Network and HBO Max on October 5, 2026. - Turkey

And the intro sounds so good in Romanian
Weird choice to use the first VA of Finn in the end tho...I don't wanna make hopes that she might or not return (many doubts)

Hungarian edition.

TBH, every time the show starts, I have to mute the TV because the prelude scene (before Finn and Jake hit their hands) was ruined in terms of sound. They couldn't make something similar to the original.

Meanwhile from Cartoon Network's three Scandinavian YouTube channels as of today…
*crickets*

Guess we'll have to wait much longer for even the slightest sneak peek of the Scandinavian dubs (or even the HBO Max–exclusive Finnish dub).

And unfortunately there's no guarantee that somebody will 100% record the Scandinavian-language promos fron Cartoon Network Western Europe's Danish, Swedish and Norwegian audio tracks ahead of the October 5th release date.

Adventure Time: Side Quests might be dubbed though like most new CN content.

Of course it's gonna get dubbed into Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish! That's not a "might"; it's a 100.0% guarantee!

The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball and Regular Show: The Lost Tapes are dubbed too!

You said earlier that the Finnish exclusive dub might come come out much later which I assumed was much later than other dubs. Also I can read so the bold was not necessary. I'm not stupid...

No, the Finnish dub will arrive exclusively on HBO Max day-and-date with the other European dubs, and also on the same day the programming comes to the Cartoon Network linear channel. This is how Finnish dubbing for Cartoon Network and Cartoonito programming has been handled for years.

I know that has been the case for most CN content for years too. I was just confused about your sentence about this sitution.

It's just the YT channels that are dead for some reason.
The dubs for shows are still on for CN/HBO Max

What I actually meant to say is that we might have to wait until we get much, much closer to the October 5th premiere before we actually get to hear the Danish, Swedish and Norwegian dubs (and we likely won't even be able to listen to the Finnish dub until October 5th at the absolute soonest).

The Danish, Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish dubs are still 100% happening anyway. The Danish, Swedish and Norwegian dubs will release simultaneously on Cartoon Network and HBO Max, while the Finnish dub will be exclusive to HBO Max.

Cartoon Network UK/Europe continuities from September 1999

It will never fail to impress me how CN Europe operated. But how on earth did certain countries (ahem Netherlands) spilt off earlier than those like France and Spain, let alone the UK?

But how on earth did certain countries (ahem Netherlands)
In the case of Netherlands it's most likely because Fox Kids was launched there almost a month later than CN (12.07.1997 vs 02.08.1997) and there needed to be some sort of competition between each other.

Mainly because of advertisers. I also think great ratings was another reason.

High cable penetration and TCC (The Children's Channel) and KinderNet already proved there was a market and a test case for a Benelux version, too bad their demise was just around the corner, and as @JulianRO pointed out Fox Kids was planning to launch too, also the fact the Dutch market had less regulatory barriers of entry. Pay-TV was high growth industry in the 90's, it's just that TCC eventually lost out as it had little in the way of original programming, which later ironically worked well for POP in the 2000's and 2010's due to a large library of archived animation and acquisitions that no-one else wanted. The Netherlands is flat and has a high population density which made it easier to install cable TV networks.

Spain was a different and difficult case, as their broadcasting laws were restrictive, which is why Minimax was broadcast from Luxembourg when the channel launched, and at launch the pan-Euro version of CN faced political opposition in France and Belgium due to its non-European programming. Germany was difficult as the rights to German dubs were sold off to other broadcasters.

It just turned out by the time 2001 came around, a free cable TV version of CN Netherlands wasn't sustainable due to the increase of original programming, which led to the birth of the non UK pan-feed, CN was moving towards a paid model in Europe at that time.

And now Spain is a hotbed of post-Brexit foreign licenses, Disney being a prime example.

They also have a lot of playout systems on the cloud. One beneficiary is Telson which housed CN ES and, from October 2013, after its closure, CN PT. I'm pretty sure CN WE broadcasts from a Madrid server? If not, Munich?

Being hosted on the cloud is location agnostic, it's all about where the transmission and editorial administration takes place.

It's much easier to use the cloud they've been having a few years now. The smooth transition from the sub-feed back to the normal feed hasn't caused any issues so far like showing a filler just a few seconds. Before there were timing issues. It used to be thing for example for the Bulgarian sub-feed of CN RSEE.
