Another new Adventure Time project in the works, this time for older audiences.

I loved the goofier, episodic side of Adventure Time, so this seems like it'll be up my ally. Not sure what they plan on doing with Jeremy Shada though given how this is supposed to be about the early days of Finn and Jake (when Finn was twelve). Nevertheless I'm for sure checking this one out.

Oh yeah! We're back to good old days! I really wanted to see this. As long they got the balls to the walls moments from the first three seasons, I'll be happy.

I hope they go the route of kid Finn inexplicably sounding like 27 year old Jeremy Shada and either don't mention it at all or make a few jokes about it.

I always thought the comedic episode route was when Adventure Time was at its best, so this sounds the most promising out of the AT announcements so far!

That honestly sounds like something AT would joke about. It would be funny, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

I’ll definitely give this a shot. I liked Adventure Time in the early days.

Seems like a no brainer. Yeah I thought Adventure Time was an S tier show at launch just because it was fun. Does it take place during or after the events of the original show? Seems like the name would imply during.

I’m guessing before the original show.

Via Variety's recap of the Annecy panel-

- Leading the “Adventure Time”-related section of the day’s presentation was showrunner Adam Muto, who also offered up a very early look at “Adventure Time: Side Quests.” The show’s opening sequence, still a work in progress, was shared, and will feel extremely familiar to fans of the original series.

Premieres June 29 on Disney+/Hulu.

Finally, the show has officially been announced.

The animation here looks different here. Guess it’ll be so different from the previous AT franchises, as the characters design looks so much 2D-ish. Let’s see later what’ll look like in the trailer.

Huh, that's odd (given that Regular Show: Lost Tapes ended up premiering on Cartoon Network airwaves, I kinda assumed that this show would've done the same).

Also, it sucks that Jeremy Shada got replaced as Finn here, it would've been funny for the younger era Finn they're going for here to sound like a 29 year old!

Does this mean Adventure Time will get some decent airtime on Cartoon Network as seen with Gumball and Regular Show???

I wonder if they decided to announce this to help us feel better, since Tom Kane just passed away

However, I wonder why this is going to be streamed on Disney+, and Regular Show: The Lost Tapes is being shown on Cartoon Network? This also makes me hope that they decide to show it on Cartoon Network as well… and maybe The Wonderfully Weird World of Gumball as well?

"Adventure Time: Side Quests Announced For Hulu"

"You just never know where these Cartoon Network revival shows are going to fall. Maybe they’ll appear on Hulu (Gumball) or perhaps Amazon Prime (Lars of the Stars) or even, on occasion, actually Cartoon Network (Regular Show: The Lost Tapes). The Regular Show appearance made us wonder if WB is finally regretting selling these shows off. Apparently not: Hulu just got another one in the form of Adventure Time: Side Quests.

While the original show changed and evolved considerably over the eight years it was on the air, and changed even further in the adult-targeted Fionna and Cake on HBO Max, Side Quests will reset the Land of Ooo and take things back to basics. The piece of promotional art Hulu sent out this morning also suggests a style change to lineless art."

Well at least we don't have to wait until October 5th

We might get all 40 Side Quests this year

I unfortunately have to wait that much, however. I don't want U.S. customers to have a big and unfair advantage over other markets when it comes to having access to the next major iteration of Adventure Time.

At least it’s coming to a streaming service I actually have. Ha ha

Man you can really tell how dire straights Cartoon Network in with not just most of their own new shows extensions of their most popular 2010s series, but ones that have to be first be shown on RIVAL streaming sites (not even HBO Max) before their air on the main network. Like technically that means an extension of Disney is getting not just Gumball but now Adventure Time content BEFORE CN is getting it which is all sorts of messed up.

Anyway as for the actual show itself admittedly I would much prefer whatever news of Fiona and Cake season 3 (which after how season 2 ended they HAVE TO make at least a season 3) but contrary to some folks complaining about "oh I want more mature AT stories" I do get the appreciation for what this is; AT USED to be about just more fun one off goofy adventures within the world and this is the chance to get back to that plus since this will feature I believe younger takes on the characters (since yeah wasn't Side quests supposed to focus on stories BEFORE the main run) more lore on certain things like how did Finn and Jake meet Princess Bubblegum or what were their first fight with Ice King like? I mean yeah it won't be peak AT but this is meant as just a side series of stories and I'm all for that. Having it younger also explains why they aren't getting Jeremdy Shada back as Finn who I think can still pull off the teen Finn voice well enough but not the much younger one. I am wondering how they will work in Marceline though if these are the younger days maybe a mix of younger days and more just around seasons 1-4.

It reminds me of Thundercats Roar and Aquaman: King of Atlantis.
