Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. is celebrating Pac-Man’s anniversary with a month long event, dubbed “Pac-May”. The theme of the event is also called, Connect the Dots, and “aims to bridge the past and present as well as usher in the future of Pac-Man through the lens of storytelling”. Among the features of this anniversary month there’s also the launch of a new series of animated shorts, entitled Pac-Man: Snack Breaks, set to debut on YouTube May 22.

Check out the teaser trailer:

Pac-Man: Snack Breaks sees Pac-Man on new adventures in New Pac-City and beyond, again running across the villainous Team Ghost on his journeys. The series is directed by Noah Pardo, with Adam Belfer, James Belfer, Monica Mazel, Garrett Beltis and Ben Bishop serving as Lead Producers. The voice cast includes Mike Cefalo as Pac-Man and Inky, Mike Bodie as Blinky, Rebecca Wang as Pinky and Lukas Arnold as Clyde. Glad they're using the adult Pac-Man voice in these. I understand why they used an "adult woman pretending to be a teenage boy" for the Ghostly Adventures series (he was in school, after all), but I prefer Pac as an adult.

Really hope we get Cylindria in at least one of these shorts.

watch this be put on a lot of channels and streaming services like pac man's ghostly adventures

STOP, MONOLOGUING!! IT'S 8AM!! [SLAM!!!]

Yeah, 15 seconds in, and I already don't like it... :(

STOP, SPEAKING IN RIDDLES!! IT'S 8AM!!

And here we have a forced running gag...

STOP, BUTT BOUNCING!! IT'S 8:01!!!

I'm not kidding, you guys, that stereotypical "cranky neighbor" could end up ruining the whole series at this point...

(sigh) And Pinky is female again, even though (Bandai) Namco aren't really sure themselves...

1:10 in, and it's already beginning to feel like the self-parody I've been suspecting it to be from the start, but I'll admit I'm still not sure. Look, I'm REALLY hoping this doesn't become "My Little Pac-Man: Friendship is Magic", like "...Ghostly Adventures" almost was...

"Stop putting a positive spin on things"? That's the funny part (and I don't exactly mean "ha ha" funny). That ship had sailed by that point...fortunately.

I also did see that he doesn't chomp the ghosts here, but that's not necessarily what concerns me.

Yeah, I don't know if I'm going to like this series. This first short has some of, repeat, some of the same forced, unfunny comedy writing that has come up in other web series (and TV shows, and movies as well). Also, I'm going to guess this "Pac-Man" is actually..."Pac-Boy"*, and that his "Pac-Parents" are...you-know-who (something Ghostly Adventures also implied). Also, did they have to make Miru a "Pokémon"? (and even then, the whole idea of Pokémon saying their names was actually invented for the anime series, but anyway)...

So, I might watch the next one, but I don't know...

*You know, 'cuz there's legal problems with his, uh, "real" name. (sigh)

I liked it. It had great timing. Pacman here seems fun. And so do the ghosts. And I love these side characters. It's got alot of personality.

I miss a good low stakes, lite heart-ed toon. I'm glad indie animation is taking off. But so much of it is cynical, adult joke stuff (NOT a bad thing, but). It's nice to have a contrast.

...I'm sorry, but.. the 8:00 jokes are my favorite. That and the Pac-wizard.

I love the attitude of these. Really playful. And having a good time building this Pacman world. And I can not get enough of the Pac-wizard. And this pac-sport is as creative as it is ridiculous.

I'm having a good time.

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
