David L. Lander Dead At 73

RIP David L. Lander. :( He was absolutely fantastic as Squiggy and Ch'p in Green Lantern First Flight.

    Sean Connery Dead At 90

I absolutely loved him as James Bond and he was good as Robin Hood and Mason in The Rock. R.I.P. Sean Connery. :(

Why did Black Vulcan stop shouting his name?

Well, again, that was in the 60's, whereas SuperFriends was in the 70's (and Black Vulcan first appeared in the late-70's), so maybe by 1978, they could have felt name yelling was out of place. Again, this is just speculation, of course.

Why did Black Vulcan stop shouting his name?

Personally, I think it was more of this. Again, I just felt it didn't sound as great as Samurai's power phrases and Apache Chief's "Inuk-Chuk". I mean, Buster Jones delivered those "Black Vulcan" yells perfectly, but just yelling your name to activate your powers isn't as cool sounding as...

R.I.P. Norm Spencer, voice of Cyclops

I really liked his performance as Cyclops. Really brought a lot of emotion and passion into the role. RIP Norm Spencer. :(

Questions About The DC Animated Universe Cartoons

The problem I have with DCAU Superman is that he is the prime example of bland Mary Sue in terms of writing. He just wasn't an interesting character at all. I personally felt the 50's TV show Superman was a much better character, though that is mainly because they always tried to focus on the...

Superfriends or DCAU: The more memorable series

I feel SuperFriends had more of an impact, since to this day, stuff from it is still used and there is still riffing on the overall insanity it had at times. That being said, the last two Super Powers tie-in cartoons were my favorites because I really felt the writing had improved big time...

Questions About The DC Animated Universe Cartoons

I've never been a fan of the DCAU Luthor. At least with Ruby-Spears Luthor, I could actually be amused with his constant sweet-talk and tantrums. Plus, DCAU Luthor always felt like a poor man's Kingpin to me. If you want a serious, calculating threat, use Brainiac. Personally, I liked Luthor...

Questions About The DC Animated Universe Cartoons

Personally, I was never that big on the DCAU. Batman: The Animated Series was pretty awesome, but after that, I felt it became too bland and not really engaging. Superman wasn't really all that great. I've seen better attempts at doing Superman (the 1950's TV show and the 1988 cartoon), and...

    Favorite Filmation toons.

I did like Filmation's He-Man and She-Ra, but I always liked the DC cartoons they made, Star Trek, Flash Gordon, Zorro and the Lone Ranger better. I think it might be a three-way tie between Flash Gordon, The Lone Ranger and Zorro. I felt they really were fun and exciting cartoons, and the fact...

    R.I.P. Ian Holm (1931-2020)

I really loved him as Frodo in the BBC Lord of the Rings radio drama. He was just perfectly cast in the role. RIP Ian Holm. You will be sorely missed. :(

How would you rate DCAU Superman on a scale of 1-5?

I give him a 1/5. I always felt he was one of the blandest versions of Superman around. He just didn't engage me in the same way that the 1950's TV show Superman did. Also, I feel the only DCAU Superman voice actor that actually sounded good was Christopher McDonald (from Batman Beyond), I...

"Spider-Man - The '67 Classic Collection" DVD Talkback (Spoilers)

I was checking out this set a while ago, and man, it still looks great. The one thing that bugged me was the lack of bonus features aside from the booklet, but other than that, the presentation was wonderful and the restoration work was pretty impressive, even considering that this was before we...
