That's because it didn't. Well, it did but it wasn't based on the movies at all. It was totally different, just the same title with "The Series" added to it because the movies were so popular. It was pretty much a marketing ploy to get people to watch the series.

I've seen some doozies. I saw part of a weird one last night. It was with Marlee Matlin and was called "What the ***** do we know?" (called on the box "What the <BLEEP> do we know?") and, well, it was weird. I wish I COULD describe it but I can't.
