Cartoon Network International News Thread 27.0

I just miss the days when I used to watch CN In 2014 back when they aired classics shows
CN in emea is just in a dire state right now the cracks already began to form in the mid-late 2010s with a few feeds like CEE

don't even get me stated on how they had many chances of rebranding but they didn't

The WBD kids channels are not in the best state, but it is hard when there are so many options to choose from in the current day and era, many of which do not even revolve around TV and TV shows (YouTube and Twitch in particular), and I'm not even referring to Western Europe alone, where the drop of linear TV is particularly evident.

This whole discussion seem to run around in circles.
Yes, the channels are not healthy as they were, but it is very hard, especially with what's happening across the pond (for someone from Europe) nowadays, to have a "Very good" channel.
I think especially CN WE, CN CEE and CN Africa kind of do It well, for what the current times are.

At one time we should realise the 2000s are not coming back anymore, and people can watch TV and content elsewhere, as sad as it might sound.
I think specialist threads like these ones still haven't caught up, and we're a big minority in the grand scheme of things.

It is only natural that, in this day and age, channels prefer to play safe and broadcast the same staples, at least at peak times.

There's a middle ground. Turn the channel into a FAST one?
Like, an Italian case that is on FAST platforms but also on Sky is Gambero Rosso. FAST Channels are also a way to keep music channels to thrive, somehow??? (I still talk about you, Stingray Cmusic...)

The two Regular Show season 2 episodes initially missing from HBO Max in the UK ("It's Time" and "Grave Sights") are now available on the UK version of the service.

Most local feeds just 5 years ago were much drier than they are today. What are we even comparing. Plus back in early 10s the networks had to put effort on linear TV as viewership was more higher. Let's not pretend that cable is more popular than TikTok when the tables have turned. Let's enjoy what we still have with potentially another merger. The only feeds that were downgraded was Portugal and France with not many creative events. Although France's schedule mostly sucked.

Feel free to criticize but can we at least acknowledge that the feeds would be more drier if they were still going to stay local? CN Nordic in it's final year was terrible. No timeslots in promos, HBO Max mentions every time and removals of Adventure Time and Regular Show. Thankfully only for 4 months as the feeds merged by September.

I think for me this is definitely an upgraded feed from local one so I'm happy to get CN WE as much as it still has some issues although they are not that big to me like the Gumball spam at night when I sleep.

The channels are fine. CN WE is what a basic CN post-Miller can be, considering that the brand no longer has a direction. It can be upgraded (MAWS and Gremlins), but it meets the basic criteria that most others outside of Japan and LA (through its two channels AS and Tooncast) do not reach (yes, CEE too. CEE > UK).

Streaming, however, is a different story. "You have to be grateful even for crumbs" will not work, sorry. For streaming you pay with debit/credit cards, you pay to a provider. Money is paid directly. There is no excuse for them to consider us as dirt. To think of us as worthless trash. We are customers, we are valuable, we exist. We love CN, we want them to make the most of the CN catalog, like LA and Asia do. Of the international ones, we are the only ones who do not do it. If at least we had most of the stuff on streaming, the channel would not have such a problem.

the problem with streaming is that they can remove a show at any point in time, it's not like physical media where you own the show it doesn't help that they keep on increasing the prices and they refuse to add certain shows too

this is why I prefer free stremers tubi has been doing a good job as of late

WE and Africa I can get but CEE still has a way to go if anything it's more like UK and Italy than WE and Africa

I can understand the justification to complain about CEE but I was mainly talking about WE. It is doing a decent enough job for modern day standards. Most cable channels are boring so at least they are trying.

Shows can also be removed on linear so it's not like ended shows will always stick around.

Sorry but if your paying a lot for streaming only for them to remove multiple shows (some of which are popular too) but the prices keep going up they are just screwing over the customers the reason people went to streaming is that is was a good alternative to cable (and better than cable at that) now it's just cable 2.0

Cable prices keep going up too. Everything goes up and you can't avoid that because of what happens in the world. Content is more expensive to produce.

Apparently. CN MENA used ai for climp champions of craig
That's a shame!

dose that justfly them remove shows off the face of the earth for a tax write off, and does that also justify them still not adding old shows on HBO max in regions like CEE and when they do it's only just a few shows while the rest is "coming soon" i don't blame some people for not going to streaming as they are just scamming us at this point and waiting for certain shows just isnt going to cut it anymore

It is, but the people at the German team and so on, can't definitely stop the current trends of our "money-grabbing" very capitalist society. I have a few things to say about it too, but it'd be off-topic
Regardless, the linear channels will decline anyway, as many people do not trust or feel the need for a structured schedule with advertising on it, especially outside of the main channels or at certain times.

There are other ways to watch the content, not necessarily on HBO Max.

Cartoon Cartoons is the only good Youtube alternative for those without catchup and HBO Max. The official CN Youtube channels don't have many full episodes, only mostly 4-5 minutes.

I just do not trust streaming the people that are saying "just go to streaming if you don't like the channels" do not realize the situation is more complex

It is what it is. Linear is declining whether you like it or not. They are not going to care about a niche community on this forum where only a few people complain. Things aren't as bad as you make them seem. Like I said, let's enjoy what we have because I know another merger is going to make things very bad. Plus you have CN Africa for variety. Bad variety for CEE isn't going to affect you at all.

"Bad variety for CEE" does affect the people that live in that region though that's why it shouldn't be ignored people in CEE also still watch more TV than in Western Europe so them being lazy because more people watch streaming is not an excuse in that case, and I can still enjoy what they have while also acknowledging they can do much better

(just so you know CN in Africa also has gone down a bit in the variety aspect too and I don't know what excuse you can get that since it's a very popular Channel over there)

I actually already know a valid excuse. The shows that perform better get the most airings. And isn't that the best thing to do business-wise to compete against it's competitors? People are going to watch more of the same shows they comfortably know about. It's not like you are watching the same channel 24 hours a day. Just like with CEE. Overall the variety might be bad but I don't think anyone is watching TV all day long. Things are not too bad outside the overnight Gumball spam.

Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
