Among those let go are 20 people from the company’s publicity departments, as well as the entire home entertainment team, led by executive director of global publicity and marketing communications Chris Bess.
This doesn't bode well for physical media from Disney...

They had pretty much slashed their physical media operations to the bone well before this.

A lot of us are hoping Disney will give Sony more power over what gets released and/or open the floodgates to licensing to sublabels. The botiques (Criterion, Kino, Arrow, Deaf Crocodile, Vinegar Symdrome) would grab the Disney/Fox back catalog in a heartbeat.

Just as we thought physical media is going up again and this is a bad start with Josh D’Amaro

yep, theres goes of hopes & dreams of simpsons & family guy getting dvd releases again

Sounds like the sort of decision Disney would do five years ago when they had the streaming first strategy.

the thing is, they started doing it, they stopped releasing the simpsons dvd boxsets after that last one

That was the idea they had when the Simpsons World app emerged before Disney's buyout.

Just give us those 4K classics before you go... And then we'll rely on Warner Archive to continue at least with their stuff.

We haven’t gotten any new releases of those shows since 2019 and we never once got any new official confirmation of Simpsons season 21 and Family Guy season 18 being released to DVD.

Likely because the acquisition of 20th Century FOX assets also implied those shows to have a better shelf life on streaming

Hoppers is releasing soon on DVD/Blu-Ray and they're still keeping the Disney DVD branding and layouts, I doubt much is really going to change, despite switching to Sony for distribution.

To celebrate the fact that I got three weeks off from work for rest, I watched today the latest installment in the separate Minions series of movies. What I loved was the unique logo variation of the Universal logo, which was akin to the plot taking place in the late 1800s

Not everything from DC and Marvel comics needs to be more like the adaptations.
