I assumed IDW would be the new rights holders for a while now and it turns out that is the case. I wonder if we'll end up with some unexpected crossover specials given IDW's love of them. Sonic/TMNT, Sonic/JLA, Sonic/Star Trek. They're all possible now (as long as SEGA agrees to it).

Funny thing about Star Trek as part of IDW is that Ken Penders used to work on the comics for it back when it was at a different publisher...

I guess there's little chance that they'll pick up where Archie left off...
Either way, glad that Sonic will continue in comic format.

I am hoping for a Sonic/My Little Pony crossover miniseries.

But my hope is when the IDW Sonic comic book is launched in 2018 (Early 2018 is my target hopes!) is that the Freedom Fighters of Knothole (including my fave - Sally Acorn) join Sonic for the IDW Sonic comic book launch!

Was it Marvel in the 1990's when it had the Star Trek licence or DC in the 1980's when it had the Star Trek licence?

Forget with DC Sonic/JLA, maybe Sonic/Legion of Super Heroes

When the Sonic the Hedgehog comic book returns in 2018 by IDW, what are the chances Sonic and Sally (if Sally Acorn makes IDW Sonic) will be the couple rather than Sonic and Amy?

Maybe a social media push could help...

IDW will have a Sonic panel at NYCC:

The First Official Sonic the Hedgehog/IDW Town Hall
Sun. October 7 | 12:45p.m. - 1:45p.m. | Room: 1A02
At SDCC, IDW announced they were taking over Sonic the Hedgehog comics. The series won’t start until 2018 but this is the first official chance for fans to get in front of the editors to hear hints about what’s to come, share your history with Sonic, and have an informal meet-and-greet with IDW CCO Chris Ryall, Editor Joe Hughes, and maybe a special guest! Everyone in attendance will leave with a special Sonic something, too! Join us on the ground floor of an all-new Sonic adventure, won’t you?

It doesn't sound like it'll be a big blow-out of news about IDW's Sonic, but it sounds like we will definitely get an idea of the direction they're going with and what we can expect, with maybe a cover or two thrown in for good measure :).

I'm also guessing the "special guest" will be one of the creative team on the new Sonic comic...

Accodfing to the NYCC IDW booth: IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog will be launched in April 2018.

They confirmed that Tyson Hesse will be back for it on a flyer and mentioned "characters old and new" which could mean the Freedom Fighters are back. Possibly.

Ian Flynn will be returning to write the book.

The book will begin with weekly issues starting in April 2018 before moving back to a monthly schedule.

And Ian Flynn will stay for IDW Sonic as one of the writers! WOO WOO!

As for Sally Acorn and the Freedom Fighters? Too soon to tell...

Is it okay to start a net petition to IDW to get the Freedom Fighters in the main IDW Sonic at the start and/or in a second IDW Sonic title (in the style of DC's Batman 1966 and Wonder Woman 1977) calling it "Sonic SatAM 1990's" based on the Sat AM cartoon that ran 2 seasons and 26 episodes?

Amazon.com has on pre-order a IDW Sonic trade paperback due out September 2018 titled "Sonic the Hedgehog - Fallout", is this to reprint the first 4 due in April 2018 IDW weekly Sonic comic book story arc which might be based on the recent Sonic Forces game? It even hints new and past friends and allies (Could Sally Acorn and the Freedom Fighters - if they make it to IDW Sonic - be friends and/or allies to Sonic in Sonic's current IDW comic incarnation?)

Recently Ian Flynn said that he will not use his created Sonic characters in IDW Sonic, but he didn't mention if the Freedom Fighters - even Sally Acorn - will be part of IDW Sonic yet with only 3 months to go until the first 4 IDW Sonic issues get released.

I can see it now: "Clean slate, Keep Sally Acorn and the Freedom Fighters in IDW Sonic".

Leaks came out about the new IDW comic, so far there's a new character named Tangle who is a lemur and Blaze is also in it. No sign of the Freedom Fighters.

And most recently IDW revealed what new villian characters Rough and Tumble slated to debut in IDW Sonic issue #3 will look like.

Okay hear me out, Isn't it kind of crazy how CN never thought about doing a Kids Next Door x Teen Titans OG crossover back in the 2000s? There's five members of Sector V, five titans, and they both have super cool HQs. I'm telling you guys, a TT and KND crossover would've been so epic!
Watched the live-action "Moana" today and felt nothing that special compared to the original 2016 film. In fact, I don't remember much from the first animated film, but I think they barely changed anything in the 2026 version
@Sam the Cartoonist is right, I've registered on this site two times and I've enjoyed it! :) I'd posted this back in 2016, over ten years ago!
