Last night during the Game Awards, Ubisoft revealed their followup to Far Cry 5 along with its first official trailer. What can we expect from Far Cry: New Dawn?
The news was leaked a day before its proper announcement, along with the above image. Based on recent trends, it led people to believe we were looking at a small spinoff game starring the two women pictured. While it is a spinoff, the pair are actually the villains — twin leaders of a dangerous gang of highway marauders.
One of the endings to Far Cry 5 involved a pair of nuclear weapons being detonated. This ending is canon in Far Cry: New Dawn, and the Highwaymen aren’t the only thing players will have to deal with. The radioactive landscape has produced mutated monsters, and the trailer indicates the previous Big Bad, cult leader Joseph Seed, may somehow still be hanging around….
To stand a chance against these new threats, players can utilize the resources in Prosperity — the name of Far Cry: New Dawn’s Homebase. Create your own weapons and vehicles, train your Guns For Hire, and upgrade your Homebase when enough resources have been amassed.
You’ll actually have the ability to go beyond Hope County with the Expeditions mode, which takes you on missions across the US. You won’t be able to stay for very long, however — your singular goal is to grab a package and leave as quickly as possible.
Far Cry: New Dawn will be out within the winter: February 15, 2019.
