A Bounty Of Nintendo Switch Game Trailers

Nintendo showed off the Switch’s entire launch lineup last night, but even at an hour in length, their presentation wasn’t enough to cover every game and show every trailer.

First up is a trailer that was not shown at the presentation, though brief clips appeared of it: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. This revised version of the Wii U original folds in every bit of DLC content and adds new racers Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl, King Boo, Dry Bones and Bowser Jr. But the most important detail is that it fixes Battle Mode, which was incredibly weak in the Wii U version compared to its predecessors. This Battle Mode will be much closer to what fans wanted.

They saved the best Zelda: Breath of the Wild trailer for last. If you think you’ve seen everything, you really haven’t…

Super Mario Odyssey looks like everything we want from a classic 3D Mario title, if you can get past the jarring sight of the bulbous cartoon plumber jumping next to realistically proportioned people.

The trailer for Xenoblade 2 contains the subtitle “I love this world because you’re in it!” Hopefully we’ll feel the same way about the game.

Splatoon 2 looks to be more of the same, but why fix what wasn’t broken? Knowing Nintendo, though, there are probably some new twists hiding within.

The brief shot we saw of Bomberman in the presentation came from Super Bomberman R, the first appearance of the guy in years. Now that he’s owned by Konami, we thought we’d never see him again.

A title that was skipped during the presentation, but has a trailer anyway: Puyo Puyo and Tetris at the same time. You may know Tetris pretty well, but “Puyo” is more than just the noise Kirby makes….

“Seeee-gaaaaaa.”

Finally, here are the two games Nintendo is putting out for your great aunt, your distant cousin, or someone else you know who doesn’t play games much….

The Switch is a console and a handheld, though from the looks of things (and the prices) it’s promoting itself as a console first. Nintendo’s new machine hits the market March 3.
