BBC Studios and Disney, in partnership with Ludo Studio, announced that the Bluey feature film will be released on August 6, 2027. Written and directed by series creator Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio in collaboration with BBC Studios, the CG animated feature is produced by Amber Naismith (Happy Feet, The LEGO Movie) and co-directed by Richard Jeffery (Bluey Seasons 1–3). Brumm is the executive producer along with Justine Flynn for BBC Studios as well as Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson from Ludo Studio. For Disney, the film will be overseen by David Greenbaum, President of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, and his team.

The film features Melanie Zanetti and David McCormack reprising their roles as Mum (Chilli) and Dad (Bandit) respectively. The movie will be the big screen debut of Bluey and her family, bringing the Emmy and BAFTA Award winning series to life like never before.
BBC Studios is financing and licensing the movie with theatrical distribution through Disney. The film is being supported by the Australian government through the Producer Offset and Screen Australia, and support from the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Post, Digital and Visual Effects Incentive.

No plot details for the movie have been released. The series centers on Bluey, a loveable, inexhaustible, blue heeler dog, who lives with her Mum, Dad and her little sister, Bingo. Bluey uses her limitless energy to play games that unfold in various ways, bringing her family and the whole neighborhood into her world of fun.

Airing in Australia since 2018 and international markets since 2019 and now available in over 140 markets, Bluey is 2024’s most watched series globally on Disney+ (based on views). It’s also the most streamed show on all of streaming in the U.S. for the first half of 2025 as well as 2024, beating shows like Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, and Family Guy. Bluey is also the #1 kids’ show on CBeebies and Disney+ in the U.K. The show has won numerous awards, including a 2024 Peabody Award and back to back Television Critics Association Awards in 2023 and 2024.
