“Batman: Hush 2” aka “Batman: H2SH” was first announced in 2024, and was supposed to be the grand sequel to one of the most beloved storylines of the 2000’s. Featuring the return of the original creative team of Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee, the first issue of the sequel mini-series came out in March 2025. And yet, here we are a year later, and the storyline still isn’t concluded, with Part 6 (Batman #163) having been delayed until May 2026. And now we have confirmation that “Hush 2” is only at it’s halfway point, and won’t finish until 2027!
At the recent “DC Comics: What’s Next” panel at Emerald City Comic Con 2026, Jeph Loeb announced that Batman: H2SH Part 2 (a whole other 6 issues of Jim Lee artwork) will be coming…in 2027. Jeph Loeb explained that Jim Lee’s other responsibilities (such as being the President, Publish and Chief Creative Office for DC Comics) have consumed more of his time than anticipated this last year. Loeb specifically referenced Lee’s helping with the promotion of the Superman film last Summer (yes, it’s more than just James Gunn doing the rounds with the press).
Loeb also revealed the H2SH storyline (when it finishes in 2027) will lead right into the next Batman series. The problem is, that Batman series has already launched. Written by Matt Fraction, with artwork by Jorge Jiménez, “Batman #1” (a relaunching of the main Batman title) came out in September 2025, and has been coming out monthly since then. Yes, Jim Lee and the others in charge decided “this is going to be a while, get the next Batman title going”.
With Loeb hinting that the events of “H2SH” will set up a new status quo in the Batman books, we’re left wondering if the Fraction and Jimenez’s book (and the other “Bat” titles) are in a holding pattern? And yet, DC Comics has announced a new Batman crossover event coming this Summer (“Bad Seeds”, with a key aspect being Poison Ivy being mayor of Gotham City). So maybe the Batman line of books will be able to move along just fine? We’ll see what status quo is set up after “HS2H” wrap up…sometime next year.
