For those at home curious, Kirito was in that coma for 18 episodes.

You know one thing I really hate about SAO that I haven't mentioned in a while? The gooey sentimentality. When the heroes are encouraging each other, they all talk in greeting card-like homilies: "We love you, Kirito! We believe in you!", etc. It's all very dull and unimaginative, and yet the show treats these scenes as if they were the first of their kind, and the syrupy music just makes it worse. Vassago isn't the best villain, but in this show he stands out because he lacks that sickly sweet demeanor.

Eh, still wish Asuna could have killed Vassago by herself but then the sappiness of friends give you power then of course it's just part of the countdown to Kirito reviving at long last. She'll always be the Vegeta of SAO, enters the final battle in a cool and powerful way, does a last ditch super move, but in the end can't finish it and Goku has to step in.

So I guess Gabriel is going to figure out how to absorb the dead, too, and get OP enough to fight the OP Kirito into the finale.

But I suppose the callbacks continuing was a nice touch. Aw, Yuuki.

I was hoping that Asuna could actually defeat the villain, but Kirito has to save the day and it's obvious villains can surivive having holes blown in them if they have an HP of one or more. Kirito gets Eugeo's ice powers somehow and we are about to see him whoop butt. No real problem with syrupy sentimentality for me as a moe lover. We are about to get the two anime that really started the 2010s anime renaissance back to back. I know SAO is probably the most divisive anime of our time, but it at least acted as a gateway to the world of anime.
