Exactly. What If as a comic series works because the writers can take for granted your average Marvel reader knows things like the Dark Phoenix Saga or all sorts of trivia. Your average viewer's main exposure to Marvel is the movies, so it makes sense for What If to focus on that.

There will absolutely be more Marvel animation. It was the claim that Coronavirus means there will be less live-action and therefore more adult animation that I was disputing. At least in relation to Marvel, whose live-action projects are moving forward in spite of the virus.

Adult animation that's not comedy is absolutely thought of as a niche market in America. There have been some exceptions helping change things like Castlevania and Season 3 of Young Justice, but those are very much the minority right now. Maybe if MODOK is a hit it'll change things a bit.

Moon Girl has already been around in the comics for a few years, and, to be frank, it's unlikely the show would've been made with Moon Boy anyway. The character has been sitting around unused in comic book limbo for how many years now?
