Can’t wait to see who plays John and the rest of the cast.
Because I don't think LOSH had anywhere near the fanbase Young Justice did. YJ was a show I was seeing people talk about for years after its cancellation, whereas I only ever see Legion mentioned as a footnote.
So from the perspective of the streaming service and whoever else is making those...
An intriguing prospect is what potential guest stars could pop up. Larry Houston famously had to sneak in cameos from the likes of Spider-Man, the Hulk, War Machine and Black Panther where he could since those characters' animation rights belonged to other companies at the time. With everything...
Happy Catwoman is getting some love. Stephanie Beatriz as Batwoman is some galaxy brain casting.
Hopefully we get news about a new JL title soon. They seem to be filling out the team well.
I definitely wouldn't be surprised. It was clear from the start it didn't have the subscriber base large enough to make a lot of new content viable, and what there was clearly had some tight purse strings (Young Justice season 3 had a noticeable downturn in animation quality, while Titans looks...
I really don't think robots or aliens count as diversity. Juan's overall point is correct; the Silver Age DC lineup is very white, which is something they've been attempting to rectify in adaptations for quite a while now. Again, this entire conversation seems kind of absurd when Hal Jordan had...
Everything I just mentioned is significantly more than most of what the other Lanterns got, so I absolutely see it as more than enough to make up for John getting a role that wound up being cut from the finished movie anyway. Hal's been eating good for quite a while so I've got no issue with...
And prior to this Hal had his own DTV film, his own live-action film and his own TV show that didn't include John, in addition to appearing in The Batman and The Brave and the Bold and as the main Green Lantern in Justice League Action and most of the New 52 Justice League movies (with the sole...
John wasn't included in TBATB or the Green Lantern animated series and was left out of Justice League Doom even with the JLU cast reunion. I'm more than okay with him taking the spotlight here.
Looks fun. And there's some pretty nice lore cuts; Intergang and a little girl from the Newsboy Legion show up in the first ep, from what I understand.
Exactly. What If as a comic series works because the writers can take for granted your average Marvel reader knows things like the Dark Phoenix Saga or all sorts of trivia. Your average viewer's main exposure to Marvel is the movies, so it makes sense for What If to focus on that.
There will absolutely be more Marvel animation. It was the claim that Coronavirus means there will be less live-action and therefore more adult animation that I was disputing. At least in relation to Marvel, whose live-action projects are moving forward in spite of the virus.
Marvel has already resumed filming on their live-action TV projects. Hawkeye and Ms. Marvel are shooting in New York and Atlanta as we speak.
I'm not trying to burst any bubbles here, but I don't think animation is gonna be overtaking Marvel's live-action output anytime soon. We'll see how What...
Adult animation that's not comedy is absolutely thought of as a niche market in America. There have been some exceptions helping change things like Castlevania and Season 3 of Young Justice, but those are very much the minority right now.
Maybe if MODOK is a hit it'll change things a bit.
Clips were funny. What stood out to me was Oswalt saying they were allowed to use characters from the X-Men corner of Marvel, something that even surprised him.
This is the first Marvel cartoon actually using X-Men characters since what...the first season of Avengers Assemble back in 2013? Or...
Someone on Twitter noted D+ changed its labelling to put all prior Marvel shows (even recent ones) under "Legacy animation." Rumor is that there's a second new show in the works other than What If.
Anyone have the early DCAU concept art (I think) showing a bunch of heroes fighting a bunch of villains? I don't know what show it was for, but it had a couple of characters who never ended up appearing in the DCAU, like Blue Beetle.
Moon Girl has already been around in the comics for a few years, and, to be frank, it's unlikely the show would've been made with Moon Boy anyway. The character has been sitting around unused in comic book limbo for how many years now?
