"The Angry Video Game Nerd" Talkback 6 (Warning: Extreme Adult Content)

It's moments like these where I like Mike more than James. lol.

Why is it so rare for a cartoon to exceed 100 episodes?

That was true back in the day. Nowadays it's a different story since cable channels dominate the market and don't need syndication. The situation now is that these channels don't give shows a chance. If it isn't an immediate hit it's gonna get cancelled right away.

Weekend Box Office: UPDATE: 'Ass' Kicks 'Dragon'

I have mixed feelings. On one hand, How to Train Your Dragon is a great movie that deserves a lot of love and I'm glad its finally getting it. On the other hand, Kick-Ass is also a great movie that deserves a lot of love. Fanboys have already embraced it, which is great, but it seems like it's...

Why Is ABC Family Turning Into The Lifetime Channel?

No, not really but does anything on TV matter? Is Cartoon Network airing live-action gonna make you lose any sleep? So, whatever, sue me for making an observation.

    "Kick-Ass" Talkback (Spoilers)

The reason they hook up, which yes was weird, was so Dave would be motivated to quit. Like he said, "you can't be a superhero when you have something to live for." A lot of people didn't. The comic was about superheroes in the real world. The movie wasn't exactly going for that which is why...

Why Is ABC Family Turning Into The Lifetime Channel?

I never said it was a problem. I said it was odd. ABC Family targets females, but not with Lifetime Channel movies. That's not their STYLE. So, it is odd. That is all.

Why Is ABC Family Turning Into The Lifetime Channel?

Yup. Exactly. That's what ABC Family is these days. For the most part anyway.
  8. O

Why Is ABC Family Turning Into The Lifetime Channel?

True, but CN has always aired a specific type of cartoon. For example, a cartoon like Phineas & Ferb would never air on the channel. And, Disney would never air a cartoon like Adventure Time. Just because ABC Family airs female-targeted programs doesn't mean that they're known for Lifetime style...

Why Is ABC Family Turning Into The Lifetime Channel?

ABC Family is a chick channel these days. We know that. However, there's a difference between airing a "hip" show like 10 Things I Hate About You and an after-school special from the `90s. It's like if Cartoon Network decided to air the Care Bears. Wouldn't you be like, "WTF?"

    "Kick-Ass" Talkback (Spoilers)

Chloe Moretz got great reviews. It was the character of Hit Girl that got a backlash for being too violent.

Weekend Box Office: (UPDATE) 'Titans' win close victory over 'Date Night'

Keep in mind that Sin City only grossed $74 million in 2005. So, these type of movies don't usually set the box office on future. I don't know why people were expecting Kick-Ass to pull big numbers. All the hype was coming from fanboys not the general public. This movie is as niche-y as you can get.

She killed all of his men. How else was he gonna treat her? lol.

Weekend Box Office: (UPDATE) 'Titans' win close victory over 'Date Night'

Clash of the Titans was #1 for two weeks. That's why you see it twice. Plus, How to Train Your Dragon opened in March. Where have you heard this mega bad word-of-mouth? Everyone whose seen this movie loves it. The only people complaining are critics who can't handle an 11-year-old girl who...

    Where Are All the Nerds?

Saturday night, like Sunday afternoon, is very general public attended. That's where you run into most of the annoying moviegoers. Friday nights can go either way since it's teenagers and college kids. So, the best bet is either advance sceening (the best choice, really), Saturday afternoon or...

    "Kick-Ass" Talkback (Spoilers)

Mark Strong was actually...kinda funny. He was a much bigger badass in Sherlock Holmes. Here, he was mostly playing it for laughs.

Why Is ABC Family Turning Into The Lifetime Channel?

The Secret Life of the American Teenager is one thing. DJ Tanner gets date raped by Zack Morris in a melodramatic `90s TV movie is another. What are they gonna air next? Pregnant at 16 with Kirsten Dunst?

Why Is ABC Family Turning Into The Lifetime Channel?

This afternoon ABC Family aired Death of a Cheerleader, the story of a high school cheerleader murdered by jealous classmates. Then they aired Freshman Fall, the story of how Zack Morris [assaults] DJ Tanner. So...when exactly did ABC Family turn into the Lifetime Channel and why? Mod Note: To...

    Where Are All the Nerds?

Fanboys wanna be the first to see the movie, so they show up to the advance screening. That's always your best bet. If you weren't busy you could have seen Kick-Ass on Thursday at 10pm.

Weekend Box Office: (UPDATE) 'Titans' win close victory over 'Date Night'

I doubt that's the reason. This April the box office has been down 10% from last year. April 2009: Fast & Furious - $70.9 million Hannah Montana: The Movie - $32.3 million 17 Again - $23.7 million April 2010: Clash of the Titans - $61.2 million Clash of the Titans - $26.6 million Kick Ass -...

"Marvel Studios' The Avengers" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

You make it sound like I said that TV guys can't direct ANY movies. I simply said that a TV guy with limited movie experience could struggle with a $200 million summer blockbuster. If Whedon was directing a movie like, say, Kick-Ass, I wouldn't raise any concerns because that's a $30 million...

Upcoming "Spider-Man" Feature Film Pre-Release Discussion, Part 3 (Spoilers)

The three sequels to `89 Batman aren't direct-sequels. Think of it like the James Bond series. Schumacher was interested in adapting Batman: Year One, but that's not the movie he wanted to make in 1995. He said so on the DVD. He grew up on campy Batman and Batman Forever is his tribute to that.

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Reversioned)" Season 1 Talkback (Spoilers)

Isn't the whole reason why PR is still on the air because of the toys? It can't be the ratings, atleast not in the U.S., because we know those are bad. So, if the toys aren't selling well then what motive does Disney have to continue with the franchise?

"Marvel Studios' The Avengers" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

Peter Jackson was a risk. No one is going to deny it. However, he had directed Heavenly Creatures, a critically acclaimed drama that put Kate Winslet on the map. The guy had talent for more than cult B-movies. So, it gave New Line reason to be optimistic. It's the same with Sam Raimi and...

"Marvel Studios' The Avengers" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

Charlie's Angeles was a silly flick made for under $100 million. The Avengers, as of now, is the highest profiled film of 2012. Watchmen didn't have any stars. The Avengers has Robert Downey Jr, Samuel L. Jackson, and Edward Norton. Half of the movie's budget is going to those three guys. And...

    "Kick-Ass" Talkback (Spoilers)

It's based on the comic by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. The plot isn't even how its being advertised. Kick-Ass doesn't inspire anyone whose important to the story. Hit Girl and Big Daddy were there before him and Red Mist, well, let me not spoil it. So, really, the movie is just about one...

"Shrek Forever After" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

DreamWorks is advertising this as the final chapter in Shrek's story...but what exactly was the point of the story? What will we have learned when it's all over? By comparison, the first movie had a point. Shrek is an ogre who falls in love with a beautiful princess. Fiona is a beautiful...

"Marvel Studios' The Avengers" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

Whedon has never been anywhere near $200 million. He's never been anywhere near cutting edge visual effects. He's never been near A-list actors like Robert Downey, Jr. who could literally get him fired if they didn't like his ideas. This is all new to Whedon which is why there's reasons to be...

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Reversioned)" Season 1 Talkback (Spoilers)

How well are these toys selling? Maybe Target is just trying to get rid of them. During the holiday season I noticed that Toys R Us and Wal-Mart had the toys all the way in the back at the corner. Clearly, they didn't think much of it. Or maybe it was just the stores I visited.

"Marvel Studios' The Avengers" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

Iron Man is nothing in comparison to The Avengers. Iron Man is, well, one superhero. The Avengers is four. The scope of the movie is huge! So, it makes sense to question Whedon's ability to pull that off.

    "Kick-Ass" Talkback (Spoilers)

Kick-Ass, well, kicks ass. Oh, cool. This movie gives us an excuse to curse at TZ. ;) But, anyway, yeah it's a really cool movie. Although I'm rather confused if this film is a spoof, a legit superhero movie, or both. It kept switching back and forth. Regardless, it worked.

"Marvel Studios' The Avengers" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

He's in final talks. In other words, putting the final details into the contract before signing it. I'm just saying it's a big jump. TV and movies are different ballparks. The scope of the Avengers is huge. He's never done anything like this before. He can pull it off. I'm not saying he...

"Marvel Studios' The Avengers" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

Yes, a $39 million sci-fi movie based on a cult TV show. That's not the same as a $200 million blockbuster featuring four big superheroes. It's one heck of a jump. He could pull it off. I'm not saying he can't. It's just a big leap. It's like if Sam Raimi had directed Spider-Man right after Evil...

"Marvel Studios' The Avengers" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

My only concern is Whedon's lack of experience. He's a TV guy. His only movie was like 5 years ago. Atleast JJ Abrams did Mission: Impossible III before Star Trek. Jumping from TV to a $200 million movie is one heck of a jump.

"Spy Kids 4" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

The character of Alex Russo is the same age as Selena Gomez. So, no, she's not known for playing a child on TV. The movie is called Spy Kids not Spy Teens. So, don't expect any Disney Channel stars unless it's the really young ones like Madison Pettis.

"Spy Kids 4" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

It doesn't: So, sorry, no Selena Gomez. Besides, she's turning 18 this July. Isn't that a little too old to be a Spy Kid?
