Fan-Made Timeline for entire DCAU (including comics)

The strip format certainly allowed for a much greater degree of flexibility than the full length DKA issues. Early on (before my time) it wasn't such an issue since the main Batman animated shows were over and IIRC early on in the Justice League series it was cartoon they were mostly avoiding...

Fan-Made Timeline for entire DCAU (including comics)

If memory serves, while doing DKA we didn't spend a lot of time working out the exact chronology of the stories. Mostly I think we just tried to avoid any direct contradictions with only a general idea of when things took place. I do remember that while doing BB Stripped we had to adjust things...

ExoSuit. No question. Though just as much for the classic BTAS music cue that accompanied it as for the look of the thing. ;)

DKA Presents - "Batman Beyond: Stripped" Talkback - FINALE (January 24th)

Not exactly. I mean the Spectre can't collect on the debt so long as Bruce is alive (hence the name) so as long as Bruce's soul stays in his body, there's nothing the spirit of Vengence can actually do about it. As far as it's concerned WHEN Bruce eventually dies he'll come to collect...

DKA Presents - "Batman Beyond: Stripped" Talkback - FINALE (January 24th)

Actually, after more than three years since my stint on DKA began I rather do ANYTHING than delve back into the DCAU...once the epilodge/coda is done of course.;) Give me a storytelling tattooed stripper or a 20's cricket girl in hades any day!

DKA Presents - "Batman Beyond: Stripped" Talkback - FINALE (January 24th)

Yes, that is the implication. Originally, way back when we started this we were characterising Dick as this bitter, somewhat washed up sickly old man who was very much still hung up on his issues with Bruce. Along the way though I think both James and myself have softened our attitude towards...

DKA Presents - "Batman Beyond: Stripped" Talkback - FINALE (January 24th)

I prefer the term "Colouring Superpowers". Seriously? I mean the bloke was getting on to 70 at least, back in the day and that was 40-50 years ago at this point. Plus I'm pretty sure Bruce & Barb spoke of him in the past tense in BB. They're back from whatever dimension Le Fey stuck them in...

DKA Presents - "Batman Beyond: Stripped" Talkback - FINALE (January 24th)

I think it's best that we didn't show it anyway because so long as the mask is on then her real face is as ugly/beautiful/scary/whatever as your imagination can conceive. Once we show you, then that's it, no more imagination. Kind of like the monster movie effect. So long as it's a creepy noise...

DKA Presents - "Batman Beyond: Stripped" Talkback - FINALE (January 24th)

It's been a while so forgive me if I don't remember clearly, but I think James and myself discussed the possibility of showing her without her mask and that her appearance would tie in with her increased powers. I won't say what that is as I don't remember if it's discussed in the final strips...

DKA Presents - "Batman Beyond: Stripped" Talkback - FINALE (January 24th)

I did mean to ask James if I should be putting in an "X Days Later" tag, but I forgot to bring it up. I think you get from the conversation only a few days have passed, so it's not a huge deal. It's just Kara & Brainiac 5, though you might recognise the guy giving her a funny look from behind...

There are three left, with #72 being the final. We may do a coda, depending on how much free time James has to scribble it down.

Well they are both bald, so easy mistake to make...but then there is the whole complexion thing that tells them apart. I don't actually remember how we decided to settle that, but then I tend not to read the scripts until I come to do the lettering, so I'll find out about a day before you...

DKA Presents - "Batman Beyond: Stripped" Talkback - FINALE (January 24th)

As with the Dick kicking Crane out bit, I tend to think it works best if you move these things into the subtext and build on them. Also brevity means more space for the pretty pictures and I just can't see Bruce actually saying that out loud, even on the best of days he's not exactly Mr chatty...

Here's a little something to keep you folks interested while you wait for the next strip and since we only really got to show it off in one panel... It's a set of alternative designs and colour schemes for Kara/Tea's "Superwoman Beyond" costume. I think the one we ended up going with was #1...

Batman & Catwoman - What Happened To Their Love?

As I recall it is mentioned in Epilogue that Selina did have a relationship with Bruce but eventually left for pretty much the same reason everyone else did. I had the slightly sick idea that the whole Barbara thing was actually on the rebound from Selina walking out, since by then Dick would...

DKA Presents - "Batman Beyond: Stripped" Talkback, Part 2 (Spoilers)

You have any idea how much a full blooded Kryptonian weighs? Too much for a bunch of old people and teenagers suffering from post traumatic stress. Plus there's a bit of a time crunch so no time to dawdle. In James original script it's revealed that Dick intentionally dumped him behind. I...

    Is Andrea Beaumont a meta-human?

Two reasons. 1 - She's an assassin (and no, you don't have to be meta to be a good assassin, just freakishly good) 2 - She has a connection with Batman. Not to repeat myself, but I think I already pointed out that Waller did not exclusively use metahumans, quite the contrary. Legions of Ultimen...

    Most Startlingly Violent DCAU Moment

I voted for Barbara's "Over The Edge" moment. Of all those listed it's the most immediate and "real". As for the others, I tend to agree that some of them aren't what I'd call startlingly violent, the Hades bit in particular is highly ambiguous, it's the sort of thing you read in whatever you...

    Is Andrea Beaumont a meta-human?

True, she dose fade in in that one scene. However, I wouldn't read too much into that as with that one exception her abilities are consistently within the same realms as Bruce's and the distance she appears to travel in an instant is actually the result of a time cut. In fact if you look at the...

Yeah, that's in the next one which has indeed been coloured, as has the one after that and the one after that is about half done. Lettering only takes an hour or so, especially if I don't spell check or look for typos, which is, well, often and after I take a hatchet to James's carefully...

Sounds like what you need to do is convert your vector layer to rasta, then apply whatever filters you want. Yeah, we've been sitting on that one for over a year I think. I think at one point we toyed with the idea of her being Kara's daughter, but in the end we settled on Tea. Partly because it's an interesting character development but mostly it means LESS exposition as the character if already...

Just to let you know the next strip is in hand and should be out in a day or two. The delay stems from the sheer volume of exposition and character stuff I have to cram into a very small space. in terms or layout complexity, it's like #22 all over again! Remind me never to let James near a...

I think Bruce did know. He may be old but he's still the world's greatest detective. Precisely when he knew is another matter, it depends on your point of view (see: Time Warped.) However I don't subscribe to the idea that Bruce manipulated Terry into being Batman, indeed if you watch Rebith...

Bear in mind that Project Batman Beyond was abandoned at the crucial point. Had Andrea gone through with the hit I doubt very much that Waller would have left the rest up to chance.
