In fact, I think this new YA CN should actually take on some of Adult Swim's tamer programming- My Adventures with Superman (initially intended for CN), One Piece, Bob's Burgers, the old CN shows on Checkered Past- as well as some of Adult Swim's earlier hours (reminder, Adult Swim now starts at 5 PM), alongside airing stuff like Fionna and Cake.

Existing CN and "kids" shows with either a PG rating or a large adult following can air as well, like TTG, Gumball, and Looney Tunes.

Well, I mean, that's what Michael Owueleen wanted to do; make CN into a general audience animation channel. I agree, instead of nostalgia pandering and give their edgier content to Adult Swim, it's best for Cartoon Network to be a YA network for animation fans rather than a kids network that would compete with Nick.

Because for the past several years of CN throwing crap at a wall to see what sticks is not working out for them at all. Longtime fans aged out due to the modern shows feels watered down. Kids themselves aged out of the network because they had so many options for their entertainment. With adults watches CN more so than children, this is probably their best course of action in order for them to survive.

Scrap the family motif, scrap Cartoonito and ACME Night, and refocus Cartoon Network as the edgy, mature outlier compared to Nick and Disney. They can still keep their "kids" shows, but have Cartoon Network be a network that all ages can watch, just like the 2000's and the early 2010's were.

I hope we can see that concept again in modern times. Then again, as long as Zaslav is still around, our wishes are probably not gonna come true.

I disagree; if you're gonna be a "general audience" channel then show stuff for every demographic.

Unfortunately, the kid demographics aren’t watching TV anymore, and that’s why Ouwleen and Zaslav are doing all this stuff. And for the kids still watching main CN, that’s fine. Like I said, we can still air kid targeted stuff (WITH adult appeal) during the day. TTG, Gumball, Looney Tunes…

I agree with @Tacomaster. CN was kind of all ages before; they can still be that now without it being just Cartoonito, AS and nostalgia bait in a box.

I’m not even sure what to do on Cartoonito. On one hand, it’s not doing SUPER hot in the States, and management seems like they’re trying to kill it. On the other, it is doing well internationally, the Barney show might air later this year, I heard Batwheels was doing well among adults on Max, and speaking of, Bluey… exists.

Zas and Ouweleen could still keep Cartoonito around; even if they don't want to make shows for it, they could use it for acquisitions or air old WB and HB stuff like Boomerang and Discovery Family.

Sure, even if Cartoonito was not doing very well in the US, they could still air their programming under the CN banner, if they wanted to.

possibly so, but i wouldn't be surprised if they don't see it as worth it. even I, a guy who wants Cartoonito to stick around, sees it as a strange choice to put on a YA-focused CN. Of course, if it goes away, there's the issue of what to put in its place during school/work hours when neither school-age kids nor work-age adults are watching...

@Tacomaster Yeah, I guess so. Maybe Boomerang, Discovery Family or Max maybe?

By that logic, Nickelodeon and Disney Channel should get rid of their preschool stuff

@superkeegan9100 Eh, I don't know about that. At least Nick and Disney had a good reputation of airing their preschool stuff for decades, even before CN was a thing. CN was best known for being the outlier of making content for all ages (at least on the older side). In my opinion, that's what they excels at.
