Don't get me wrong, the series we have now are fine. But nothing that really stands out that will be remembered fondly years down the line, at least not without taking off the nostalgia glasses, and looked at seriously and critically. Thing is, I honestly can't see anything coming out within these next couple years as living up that benchmark and that concerns me a little.

There are some genuine hits here and there like the Loud House, which I imagine would hold up well over time. Not to mention OK KO is fast becoming a hit, then there's new breakout successes like Final Space.

Not to devalue either series, as I still enjoy and love both. But neither are of the same level of "game changer" as something like Adventure Time or Regular Show were, or Avatar, Powerpuff Girls Classic, or Spongebob, or South Park, or The Simpsons. I realize I may be asking for too much, but I can't help but worry for the long term health of the medium if nothing happens.

Final Space can potentially become that, as it's currently very rare for us to get an adult cartoon that actually takes itself seriously.
