Though, again, even with all that said, I still enjoyed the movie.

I view Iron Man 3, Thor: Dark World, and ASM2 (though in the latter's case, I'm still not sure I even enjoy it anymore).

And, from a certain standpoint, I'm kinda disappointed with Guardians.

Maybe not with the movie itself, but in how Gunn basically redefined the whole property and several of the characters

Which is a shame given how good the original DnA run actually is, and now I'm not sure people will ever get to see what that was like in terms of other media.

And I realize I kinda vented/ranted to you, so apologies for that.

"Brutasha?" Is that really the name people came up with? There has to be a better name for that ship.

That scene with Thor and the dream pool was so confusing I laughed out loud in the theater.

If Thor 3 was coming out in the same year, it would've kinda relevant. Are mainstream audiences really expected to remember that outofnowhere scene that barely anything to do with the rest of the movie two years later?

I never liked Amazing Spider-Man 2. That was like Sequel Bait: The Motion Picture.

I wonder if comic book writers go see the movies based on their characters, sigh, and then say "Well, guess I'm going to have incorporate that into the book somehow..."

I know its exciting to see all this stuff on the big screen and with the mainstream popularity that goes along with it, but I don't know about yoking the comics so closely to everything Hollywood does.

Given how much synergy has happened at this point, I wouldn't be surprised.

More like Spider-man Cinematic Universe: The Beginning.

It's a ship barely anyone cared for, so it shouldn't be a surprise it has a name people won't care much about.

I think synergy is a double-edged sword in a way.

It makes Marvel focus on and emphasize characters and properties they might have otherwise let languish or keep on hold.
Frontier

But the attempts at synergy are often so ham-fisted or unnecessary that they really bring certain books down.

Especially when you see a creative choice and you think "oh, this was motivated by the movies."

And now, thanks to Edgar Wright, Janet Van Dyne no longer gets to be The Wasp apparently.
