A new era of Power Rangers is about to commence, and it heavily involves the original five. Though they're not those same teenagers with attitude anymore.

BOOM! Studios begins a hard relaunch of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers! with New York Times best-selling author Marguerite Bennett (Batwoman) and veteran artist Andrew Lee Griffith (Transformers), Entertainment Weekly can exclusively reveal.

The continuity starts fresh in this new story involving Jason (Red Ranger), Kimberly (Pink Ranger), Trini (Yellow Ranger), Zack (Black Ranger), and Billy (Blue Ranger) returning as adults, 10 years after retiring their morphers and going their separate ways. So what became of them after leaving Angel Grove High?

Hmm, not too sold on the premise since Amy Jo Johnson did a similar take for Boom called The Return and that TV special Once & Always. Though the one difference with this new series is Trini is still alive. And Tommy is MIA, but seems there's a companion comic that might explain that - he's stuck on some AU Earth. Art isn't grabbing me. I may check out the 1st issue and decide on continuing or not.

The first issue of the new ongoing series is out now!

Writer: Marguerite Bennett
Artist: Andrew Griffith

Synopsis:
A new uniform for a new era! The future is now with this visionary relaunch of the globally acclaimed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series.

It’s been ten years since the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers turned in their morphers and went their separate ways. But now they’ve been called back to the legendary Command Center to face a new, terrifying form of a familiar foe: Rita Rabiosa.

They may not be teenagers with attitudes anymore, but are they still the same heroes they once were?

New York Times-bestselling comic book writer Marguerite Bennett (Bombshells, Batwoman) jumps into the Command Center, joined by industry veteran artist Andrew Lee Griffith (Transformers, G.I. Joe), to usher in a new era of Power Rangers, making it perfect for new readers and longtime fans alike!

I've read the Comics Giveaway Day one-shot (as in Comics Giveaway Day 2026: Power Rangers or Power Rangers v2 issue 0) recently and have to say that the prelude to  MMPR v2 is quite similar to The Return, though the difference is that Trini is alive in this comic book than being deceased prior to the latter's events.

That said, out of those three stories from the one-shot, I'm more interested in  Unlimited, given its crossover aspect.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
