"Witch Hat Atelier" Season One Talkback

Hope Qifrey isn't going to have to mindwipe Tartah, eventually.

Heh heh, Coco's budding drawing skills gets someone again.

Nice to get more insights into Tetia, Richeh, and Agott. Tetita just wants to help everyone and be thanked and make a cool cap. :) Richeh hates tests and being told what to do. Agott's family are all librarians at the Tower of Tomes. That explains the desire to take that test. Maybe that's when her mom will debut.

Hmm, a nightmare or was it the Brimmed Cap inducing that to mess with her... Dah, Brushbuddy hug. :)

Ooo, double booby trapped.

Holy smokes, the Cap was right there.

Took something from Qifrey? No surprise this is personal to him.

Yay, she finished the shoes. Bet the signs are off, lol. Oof, only Agott's been thinking about not being narc'd on. Fits as now it seems before the atelier, she wasn't around genuinely nice people so she always has her guard up even when it's when someone is nice to her with no strings attached. And she fainted. Those late nights add up.

Brushbuddy clap. :D

lmao, not into "Puffpuff" as a name.

Ulp, here we go, Tartah's going to ask him about the incident.

This episode was chapter 14-15 of the manga. Omission wise, in the manga, in the Pentacle explanation, there was bit where Olruggio explained he stopped at 4 and never took on apprentices. In terms of additions, in this episode, they added Olruggio being there and saying he'll watch the atelier while Qifrey takes Coco to Kalhn, Tartah and his friends playing, Tartah leading Qifrey to the hospital

I thought that this episode was pretty good. Learning about the different tests they have to take in order to become proper witches was pretty interesting. Tetita just wants to use magic to make people happy. Richeh wants to avoid being forced to do what she doesn't want to do through these tests while Agott is the opposite, wishing to grow up faster so that can become a Librarian. Coco felt like her path is already set for her given that she doesn't come from a witch family, but her focus would be to just become strong enough to save her mother.

The dream sequence was pretty vivid and intense for Coco. It really captured feelings of guilt and longing for her mother quite well. She has been happy with her new friends and learning about magic, but it is still the result of deep loss and trauma and that doesn't go away. Given how much magic the Brimmed Cap has, I wouldn't be surprised if he was able to affect her dreams. Qifrey trying to get the metal in the ink only to be injured by the Brimmed Cap was pretty intense too. He wanted to get back what was lost. It makes sense that his motivation is from his own personal loss, but we still don't know what he lost or how the Brimmed Caps are involved. It was also interesting to learn that there was a group of witches who fought against the order of not using magic to manipulate the human body beyond erasing memories. That kind of healing magic would save so many people, so having that spell be lost after their memories were erased is a huge shame.

Both Coco and Qifrey were too tired after being up all night. Coco giving Agott her shoes back was nice. Unsurprisingly, Agott couldn't seem to understand why Coco was being nice to her. It does make sense with her backstory since she probably wasn't around a lot of kind people when she was little without some catch involved. It also felt weird to have confirmation that Qifrey does not know that Agott forced Coco to take the first test. While Coco didn't tell him, it seemed extremely obvious. Coco obviously couldn't have set out for the first test without someone helping her and more importantly, she went straight to Agott to say that she passed the test. Qifrey probably doesn't want to assume the worst of his students and he does treat them with genuine kindness and compassion, but it seems weird that he just didn't put the two pieces together here. And Agott should have gotten some trouble for doing that. While I don't think she intended to actively hurt Coco, let alone endanger her life, the fact of the matter is that she was still knowingly throwing Coco into a dangerous situation. It was all because she wanted to get rid of the outsider, someone who she thought was beheath her because she didn't work as hard as she did to become an apprentence. What we know of her backstory does explain why she acted this way and to be fair, she was seemingly upset over worrying about pushing Coco into this test for no reason. That does imply that she is aware that what she did was wrong, but doesn't have the emotional intelligence or maturity to understand her feelings or to take responsibilty for her actions. As I've said before, I don't expect young kids to make the most emotionally mature decisions out there. Agott doesn't look any older than thirteen at most. But I do think having Agott not face any consequence for endangering Coco's life is pretty annoying and really gave a terrible first impression of her character.

I did like that Coco emphasized that she wanted to pass the test with her own magic though. While Agott forced it onto her, Coco wanted to use that as an opportunity to prove to herself that things weren't so hopeless. If she could pass the test, then maybe saving her mother wouldn't feel like such an impossible task. I thought at first that Coco was just exhausted when she passed out, but she had a fever instead. Agott rushing to get Qifrey with the same shoes that Coco just gave her back was a nice detail. I wonder if the Brimmed Cap somehow made Coco sick. That would seem rather counterproductive given that he wants to use Coco to bring the world to ruin somehow, but since his magic can seemingly do anything, it wouldn't be too surprising.

At least Tartah was able to help them get to the hospital. For a moment, I thought that how long it took for them to get there meant that the Brimmed Cap was leading them into another trap. Tartah wanting to ask about that flash of light to Qifrey was a pretty good cliffhanger for the episode. Qifrey was willing to erase Nolnoa's memories of the ink, but I don't think he'd be as willing to do that to a child like Tartah.

No better way to de-fuse the tension between Qifrey and Tartah than Qifrey acting like the same magic loving, enthusiastic mentoring, he's always been! I mean, could you really believe he would wipe someones memories to cover up his own suspicious actions? Though also the real priority right now is Coco's health.

Yeah, Qifrey really SHOULD be more attentive, but at least he can do what he can to help Coco through her Japanese Cold episode. Even if a witch's work is never done, as a fire breaks out at a tavern and they kind of desperately need a water witch. Qifrey doesn't want to leave Coco's side...but she implores him to go. Even if being left alone means leaving Coco alone with her sickness...and her nightmares.

But as luck would have it Tartah left his cap there and without the only proof that he's a Witch, he has to come back for it and be there for Coco, who clearly needs some medicine. It's just that with Tartah's silver eyes he can't actually see the tranquileaf medicine she clearly needs.

Yet where there's a will, and magic, there's a way! Even if you get discouraged, there's always a way and a solution or a way to adapt a spell to get what you need! Coco believes in magic with all her heart and even if her drawings aren't perfect, she also believes that Tartah can cast his own spell! They're both children of their crafts and that can be a benefit to their spell-drawing! And through truly casting magic, Tartah is able to SEE in a way he never has before!

Okay, yeah, obviously a hospital wasn't going to leave the whole place unattended without someone staying behind, so Tartah kind of did all that work for nothing...but the emotional validation and getting acknowledged as a Witch's Apprentice made it all worth it.

Well, hello Ms. Stoic Lady Witch in a purple cloak! Even if you're there to really emphasize the gap between how Outsiders view magic and how Witches who actually practice it know about its limitations.

Everything turned out great! Coco and Tartah really bonded (and look pretty cute together, not gonna lie), Qifrey and Nolnoa acting mutually oblivious about the flash of light makes Tartah less suspicious (even if he's still going to investigate it and Qifrey is staring right at him), the guard who gave Tartah the third degree is making himself scarce now that he realizes Tartah is legit...and Tartah may or may not have a crush on Coco, promising to personally hand deliver her a wand suited just for her! In this silver and grey world, she stands out! Just as she and his grandpa believe Tartah is just as amazing!

Tartah achieved a big win and so did Coco! Now she knows that spells can be inverted! And if normal magic can, so can Forbidden Magic! This is another big step in her quest to save her mother!

It's nice to see Coco back with the gang, and Agott standing there like she cared but she doesn't really want to show it...but Coco will run to her anyways! It's just too bad the Brimmed Caps are planning to make a move, including an new one that's just...a cloak and his cap voiced by Ryusei Nakao!? Dang.

I thought that this episode was pretty good. Qifrey being so excited over the prospect of talking about magic to Tartah was kind of cute. It's hard to tell if it was an act or not. I'm leading towards not since he can be genuinely that upbeat with his students, but it could go either way with how Qifrey acts so differently when on his own. The nurse pointing out how the adults around Coco should be more responsible was a bit harsh, but not wrong. Qifrey is basically Coco's adopted father figure at this point and she must have been dealing with little sleep for quite some time for a cold and fever to develop too. At least he was able to cool the room a bit with his water magic. This episode really made the loss of the medical magic, as well as the downsides of magic being a guarded secret in general, all the more apparent. Magic isn't an instant fix it button in this universe, even with the use of magic on people in the past, but that kind of magic would undoubtedly save lives. It makes me wonder if keeping magic a secret was really the best course of action in the long run. I don't doubt that there were plenty of people who misused magic or that there were wars made even worse by magic, but losing out on the potential good it could and did do for people in general feels counterproductive.

Qifrey leaving to help with a fire only after Coco reassured him was kind of nice. Tartah not being recognized as fellow witch without his hat felt a bit odd. I'm sure plenty of kids tried to ride the ferry for witches with those kind of excuses before, but you'd think that witches would have other identification besides their hats and more importantly, the guard would recognize Tartah from earlier that morning or other times he went into town. I don't know how often they would take shifts for something like a witch ferry ride.

It did lead to Tartah finding his way back to the hospital to help Coco. It was nice that he wanted to help her out. Even with the explaination they gave later, it still felt weird for a hospital to not label their medicine. I know it was done so that there would be more of a personal conflict with Tartah, but it really doesn't make any sense with how hospitals work. Seeing the world in silver already sounded terrible, but it does make it clear just how difficult it would be for Tartah to become a witch. You'd think it would still be doable with some labels or other means to tell the different dyes for spells apart, but magic society, or society as a whole for that matter, does not like to offer help for those who are different. Tartah effectively has a disability and instead of offering him support to help him become a witch, they just dismiss him as too much of a problem to be trained. It was cool to see Coco and Tartah working together to find the correct medicine. Tartah knows about magic and at least some kind of basics of the spells, but this was the first time he had been able to use magic of his own and that did feel like it was opening up his world.

Finding out that there was indeed a nurse there the whole time was kind of funny. Admittedly, I can't blame Tartah for thinking that they were all alone. Even for a fantasy hospital, it was extremely dark and quite, so while he could have looked around for help, it really did seem like everyone left to help with the fire, even though that wouldn't have made much sense with other people needing treatment at the hospital. But at least Tartah got to gain some confidence and being called a witch apprentence did a lot for his self esteem as well. Of course, Coco was fine from her fever after just one day, but they couldn't have her be sick for too long.

It was nice to see that Nolnoa was worried about Tartah after being out all night. Qifrey and Nolnoa also still seem to be friends in spite of what happened earlier. Tartah finally asked about the flash of light only to change his mind once neither of them knew what he was talking about. Qifrey was definitely pretending in that moment, but I guess he kind of had to when Nolnoa has no memory of it and Qifrey remembering it would make it all the more suspicious. Tartah wanting to look more into it himself makes me wonder how he'll actually do that. I still don't think that Qifrey would be willing to erase his memories like he did with Nolnoa. Tartah promising to make and deliver Coco her own pen was rather cute. It always felt weird that they never picked up a new pen for her and now it makes more sense when they wanted to use it for a big moment for both her and Tartah.

Qifrey wanting to help Coco try to get more sleep and deal with her nightmares was sweet, but she fortunately found more hope. Finding out that normal spells can be inverted gave her more hope that doing so with forbidden magic can save her mother. It doesn't fix all of the pain she's been carrying, like with the rejection from Agott or the immense guilt over using that forbidden spell, but having hope to hold onto can certainly help. Everyone being happy that Coco was back to normal was cute. Agott is still a tsundere. There are ways to make a tsundere more endearing for me and Agott still isn't one of them. The cliffhanger with the Brimmed Caps was pretty ominious. The new Brimmed Cap that appeared to be just a living cloak and cap was especially creepy. While it would make more sense for that Brimmed Cap to just be using forbidden magic on his own body to be invisible, it would still be cool and interesting if magic just made him that way somehow, especially if the magic is in the blood of all of the Brimmed Caps.

Man, how Qifrey has a glimmer of cold in his eyes. What did the Brimmed Caps do to him...

Ha ha, scolded for not being a dad to his apprentices. :D Though she was having some scary nightmares.

Tartah's eyes betray him but really inventive to reverse the signs on the Earth spell then Tartach figures it out and finds a new way to ID items.... then gets scolded by the lady, too. Heh. Still I agree it was nice to see Coco and Tartah bond even to the point Tartah vows to personally make her a pen. :)

Hmm, signs can be inverted. Medicine can be poison. The reverse. And that's hope for Coco to fix her mom.

Ooo, another Brimmed Cap. One who's invisible. I agree, no doubt they tattooed themself with the spell.

This episode adapted chapter 16 and 17. Some minor changes. In the manga, Qifrey saved a baby from the fire whereas in this, no baby and the witches are already present. The man at the hospital confirms Coco's fever is gone the next morning but he's omitted in the anime as well as Qifrey and Nolnoa calling from outside and also when Coco agrees witches are amazing Tartah blurted out he meant she was amazing. The anime added Coco saying goodbye before Tartah vows to make the pen. (And that's all for Grimoire Edition #1, #2 isn't out till August so I'm back to just watching the anime for the final few episodes).

Episode 11 "The Test in Serpentback Cave" - June 8, 2026
Richeh reveals her distaste for spells that are not her own, while Agott gets the date for her second test.

Is it finally time for Agott to shed her scales like the scalewolves have for the sake of mating? Time for her to accept that Coco belongs with them, accept Coco for who she is? Because everyone needs a mate...I mean, a friend.

I mean, Coco is actually making progress as a mage! She's learning to cast legit spells and she's found her specialty! She's a straight shooter in her love for magic and she's a straight-line witch! She truly is growing into her own adorable magic-loving witch!

But even if Coco's specialty is reliable, straight-line, consistent spells...it never hurts to be aware of or try to learn more complicated ones too. And luckily for Coco she loves magic so much that just reading about them in a book is the most amazingly amazing thing to ever amaze! Amazingly! Too bad it's not something she and Richeh can bond over because Richeh is so insistent on her own magic that she refuses to read spellbooks.

Oh no, Coco's fell into the Chamber Pot of Secrets! Well, more like the secret entrance to the Richeh Cave, but at least seeing the spells Richeh has come up with and showing how flexibly and passionately she loves them manages to win Richeh over. But it doesn't change the fact that she wants to stay as herself, with her own magic, rather than try to learn and get forced to become/draw as a Witch that's not herself.

Olly isn't just that dad who sleeps on the couch, he's also a tsundere who shows his love and affection in his pointed, but on-point, advice as well as in the magic crafts he makes for everyone in the Atelier! He even wants to ensure Qifrey gets the sleep he needs!

Also seems like Richeh is so insistent on her magic as part of her connection to her older brother, Rili? So she doesn't lose herself, she doesn't lose her memories of her brother or what he appreciated about her? Smol Richeh was adorable though.

I gotta say, self-drawing pens for messages between witches? SUPER COOL!

Welcome to the Serpentback Cave, where they'll be having the second test, the Sincerity of the Shield! Proctored by none other than Sailor Moo...I mean, Alaira! With her cloaks that let her transform into talking animals! Giant Brushbuddy for the win!

Master Kukrow is a real piece of work. For all of Qifrey's issues, he would never see his apprentices as failures or talk so badly about them in front of others. Sure, Euini's failed the test twice, but he seems like he's trying his best and doesn't want to disappoint his master even if he's internalized all of Kukrow's critiques. But this jerk won't even stay and watch him through the test! What a complete A-hole!

But Richeh IS taking this test, whether she wants to or not. She counted on Qifrey to respect her autonomy and freedom and not force her to do anything, but he seems to genuinely believe this will be good for her in the long run...and hopefully it does, because I'd never want Richeh to hate me.

March of the Penguins...I mean, Myrphons! Adorable little creatures that the Witches will have to guide through the Serpentback Cave without getting their magic (or human status) exposed! Can the Witches handle the test? Especially in a windy and complicated path that's the result of Forbidden Magic?

I thought that this episode was pretty good. While I'm still not sold on Agott, it does feel like she was coming to close to realizing something important when reflecting on Coco. She is an outsider who was able to learn magic just like the rest of them, which does call into question the need to separate witches and outsiders in a sense. There is still dangers of letting magic be accessible to everyone, but there have also been drawbacks and obvious dangers to making it forbidden knowledge in the first place. Coco's happiness at learning even complex spells was rather cute. It's also nice that her skills helping her mother are still helping her with learning how to draw now.

Her excitement is a good contrast to Richeh being so adamantly against even looking at spells, let alone drawing anything other than her own spells. She has been even pretty aloof, but she still normally gets along with the others. Given her dream about her brother, I assume that her firm desire to only draw what she wants to comes from some traumatic backstory that involves him. She clearly knows the basics enough to make her own spells considering that she was able to create her own secret hideaway and her own unique spells. It does make me wonder how she ended up being an apprentice or how she passed the first test. That might be part of Richeh's backstory or why she doesn't want to do more tests.

Olruggio giving those magic heat stones to help everyone get more sleep, including Qifrey, was rather sweet. He was trying to downplay his concern for their well beings, but he was being a tsundere. This was an example of how to make a tsundere kind of character that doesn't annoy me or make me roll my eyes. He cares about the girls and wanted Qifrey to get more rest too. He just isn't as open about his feelings as Qifrey is. Being able to send messages through magic looked really cool.

I did feel bad for Euini who was constantly being dismissed by his own teacher. Qifrey can be suspicious, but his concern for his students is entirely genuine. Insulting your own student right in front of them is terrible as it is, but if they can't pass after two tries, that also says something about the skills of his teacher. It was cool to see Alaira use that magic cloak. It's a cool way to have a bit of transformation magic without having it actually affect the body. I love seeing more magic animals of this world. The wolves were so cool and these Myrphons were so adorable too. Trying to help them through their migration while hiding in plain sight is an interesting setup for this test. It also explained why AlaIRa brought up giving away their humanity. It sounds like a harder way of showing that the students are capable of performing spells without being noticed by other people.

I didn't think that Richeh would be taking the test with all of the buildup Agott has had for it. While it would have been better in a way for Qifrey to tell her ahead of time instead of at the last minute, I can understand why he did it. She was upset since she doesn't want to feel forced into doing something that she doesn't want to do, but as her teacher, Qifrey does need to push her out of that comfort circle. It's a delicate balance since pushing too much too fast can backfire, but with her recent outburst, Qifrey needed to do something to help her. He was still gentle and reassuring to her, which did help Richeh into accepting this decision, but she still was upset about being put into this position.

Seeing the path being so twisted due to forbidden magic was cool. It is seemingly permanent damage from forbidden magic that affects the wild life, but it is still a cool visual. Agott will most likely pass the test, if only because having another setback doesn't feel too likely right now after they established her backstory, but I'm less sure about Richeh. She'll probably still at least learn something as a result of this test so she won't distrust Qifrey, but given how she doesn't like drawing spells other than her own and she hasn't really prepared for this test, I'd be surprised if she's able to pass it.

Ah, Richeh is the scalewolf. And Agott seems to finally coming around to accepting Coco. :D

Richeh is a bit of a rebel artist. Only wants to focus on her style.

Heh heh, Qifrey knows Olruggio is a big softie. But Olly's got Qifrey pegged, too. lol. Set an example, teacher! :D

Cool letter device. My kinda fax machine.

Ah. felt abandoned by her brother.

Heh, the snugstone was a success.

lol, Brushbuddy's reaction to the big fake one.

Ah, Alaira is the proctor. Ulp, another labyrinth. More cute animals! :D

Euini drew the short straw in masters...

Interesting challenge. They have to protect an animal from magic and potentially forbidden magic without revealing they are human. Naturally it won't be on a conventional path. I wonder if the crystal ribbon spell will somehow come into play. Notice how the shape seemed limp in Richeh's hands then she was quickly able to wad them up into a ball. I would like to see her win that test in her own way and maybe realize the more tests she passes, the more freedom she'll have to be herself in a way.

Poor Coco and Tetia, Qifrey's ready with some history facts. :P

Episode 12 "The Shadow of Romonon" - June 15, 2026
Qifrey tells Coco the history of the Romonon cave, while Agott and the examinees face its topsy-turvy magic.

Hear the tale of the Cavernous Domain of Romonon! Filled with decadence and ancient magic! And people who in their arrogance and belief in their own superiority constructed a foolproof pathway to their land that would weed out the unworthy! Only for their own arrogance and hatred of the unworthy to get turned on themselves before they collapsed under the weight of their own classism and the gold they were so obsessed with! Magic can be pretty dangerous.

But count on Coco to still want to believe in magic as something positive and good, capable of helping others and making people happy! Honestly Qifrey probably needs that because it seems like even he isn't always sure about magic himself.

Welcome to the Serpentback Cave and the Sincerity of the Shield Test! It's not a test where you can speedrun it via flight, but Euini's failed it enough times that he knows exactly what NOT to do.

But is the "right" way to do things the right way for Richeh? Her previous master badmouthed and rejected her spells, spells that represented the witch she was and wanted to be, because by his strict standards they weren't "right." And ever since then Richeh has been determined to retain her individuality and the love she feels for her personal magic.

I see Agott might actually have a weakness for cute things despite herself. She's a true tsundere.

I get that Richeh wants to do her own thing and validate her magic, but Euini is genuinely just trying to help! Although maybe clinging to the "correct" method above all else isn't always the way to go about it!

It's the end of the road! Well, outside that gap that is, but there's still a path forward if you can figure it out with magic! Richeh and Agott may have totally different perspectives on their magic and the people they want to be (Richeh clinging to the person she is, Agott desperate to become someone better than she is now), but they at least acknowledge and don't interfere with each others' paths so there is that.

But what about poor Euini? He's failed this test enough times that reaching an impasse he wasn't prepared for is a near breaking point for him. On top of that he's got crippling social anxiety and a belief that he can't cast in front of people, and Kukrow never helped, leading him to hate himself and stop believing he could amount to anything. But Euini, believe in the Richeh that believes in who you can be!

If you're so socially anxious and uncomfortable being seen by people (even if realizing that the people are looking at you not with scorn or judgement but to face you as you are), then just modify a cloak of concealment to turn you into a living shadow boy! That way you can cast at your leisure! Euini has finally found himself, his own form of magic!

Qifrey's going to have to work hard to undo that Angricheh Point.

This test is all about finding yourself! Which makes it getting interrupted by the Brimmed Cap who absconds with Alaira all the more harrowing...can they follow her last words and resist the Brimmed Cap and the allure of Forbidden Magic? Can they pass the test? What of Coco/Qifrey/Tetia outside?

Ah, the Romonon fell because of their arrogance, prejudice, elitist magic which led to infighting and eventual collapse. A nice allegory that pertains to the Pointed and Brimmed Caps themselves.

Had a feeling the boy would take the most time but the others would get him to figure out his method.

I was eye rolling when Coco ran off again.

Man, are there any other nice masters besides Qifrey?

I loved it when Richeh was making those movements from the other side, the two myrphon were trying to copy her, too. :D

Angricheh Point. lol.

Surprising the Brimmed Cap is going for those taking the test and not Coco though. I guess the move would be to take out the masters first starting with Alaira.

Coco: "My Brimmed Cap Senses are tingling!" (Proceeds to run off to danger for the umpteenth time)

Olly's not officially one but I think he counts. Alaira also doesn't seem to be a master but she seems nice too :).

The Brimmed Caps are equal opportunity in messing with children .

I thought that this episode was pretty good. The story behind the cave was pretty interesting. It is another example of how people caused so much damage with magic in the past. Keeping magic a more guarded secret did more harm than good in the long run, but there is still some reasoning behind the decision.

Seeing more of the test was interesting. Agott was confident with her spells and Euini was able to make use of his knowledge from his past attempts. Richeh's desire to be herself with her own spells is starting to make more sense with even that brief flashback. She sees her own spells as reflections of herself, to the point where she didn't want to throw herself away. Her past teacher didn't seem interested in trying to understand or empathize with her. There's probably still some tragic aspect behind it with her brother, but the feeling of not being accepted/understood and not wanting to be a different person are understandable experiences in themselves.

I thought that Richeh would be the one to learn something from the test and while that still may happen, I didn't expect her to be the one to help Euini to make some progress. Although, I guess I should have since Agott definitely wouldn't be able to be compassionate or patient enough to help him. Plus, Alaira couldn't give advice during the test, so Richeh was the only option. Euini definitely has some serious social anxiety. His teacher's terrible attitude doesn't help at all and in fact has contributed to his emotional problems. I'm starting to wonder if more magic teachers are along the lines of what Euini has been dealing with and Qifrey is one of the few examples of a compassionate teacher. At least Eunini was able to figure out a pretty unique solution. It may not be practical for performing magic in front of people and it might make it harder for him to pass the test too, but he's better able to draw his spells and be himself. It gives Euini a chance at passing the test.

I wasn't expecting the Brimmed Cap to affect the test. I thought that they would be going after Coco. Even when she was looking over the cliff's edge, I kept expecting it to break apart or for her to fall for some reason. Fortunately that didn't happen, but Agott, Richeh and Euini seeing their instructor being taken away by a Brimmed Cap was a pretty intense note to end the episode on. I don't know if they'll try to get any of them to join their side, but it might be a possibility since Alaira told them to not listen to the Brimmed Caps.

I mean the masters who are teachers. Olly and Alaira are nice but they don't have apprentices. I'm a little suss of Alaira and even the one that bailed. I guess I'm always suss of any master that shows up since the Brimmed keep their identities a secret. I'm even hoping Coco's mom doesn't turn out to be a mind wiped Pointed or Brimmed Cap.

On second thought, someone like Richeh who doesn't want to conform to rules may be someone the Brimmed would want to compel to their side.

Is there anything more sweet and adorable than Coco and Tetia racing through the sky together? Or Coco going from freaking out to being overjoyed when she thinks about how Agott might feel about the Slyph Shoes she gave her? Which just makes the SNAKE ENTRANCE ATTACKING THEM and making them fall underground with Qifrey grievously injured more harrowing.

Meanwhile the other kids are on the run from the Brimmed Cap and good thing Richeh is there with her Richeh faces to make sure Euini stays on program.

Myrphon Richeh and Aggot is actually cute up until Euini realizes that, without his cloak on him, he looks human and freaks out the ACTUAL Myrphons inside the cloak and giving their position away. It's the thought that counts Euini.

When in doubt, make an impromptu ice sled! Though now Richeh has to face the fact that, because of her insistence on prioritizing the magic SHE wanted or her own personal magic...there's genuinely magic she doesn't know even in a crisis situation. But that just makes the over-prepared Euini letting her use HIS magic all the more meaningful.

If the Brimmed Caps are after Coco, then obviously if they think Coco got mindwiped they shouldn't bother with them, right? But the Brimmed Caps know the Pointed Caps are a bunch of liars and that the era of the Brimmed Caps is soon to dawn on a world that is limiting its potential...potential that the Brimmed Caps are ready to enact NOW. Even if it means forcibly tatooing magic on a child and using that to spur Coco. Whatever they can do to force others to use Forbidden Magic, they will.

But Richeh and Euini make a good team! It's just too bad that JUST as Euini is feeling good about himself, what he can accomplish, and finally has confidence in himself...the Brimmed Cap grabs him and TURNS HIM INTO A MAGIC WEREWOLF! Euini nooooo!!!

Now the Brimmed Cap leaves the kids to themselves. He's used Forbidden Magic on Euini and now he's ready to watch to see how far the other kids are willing to go to save him. Richeh obviously wants to prioritize saving Euini, but Smartygott knows that they also have an obligation to the Myrphons and finding a responsible adult to get help. And also that Richeh, for as skilled as she is, is nowhere near able to be adaptable in a crisis situation. So Agott will go after Euini.

Brushbuddy you are the MVP waking Coco up! Tetia is still unconscious and so is Qifrey...UNLESS YOU REACH FOR HIS GLASSES.

But we don't have long to ponder Qifrey's sensitivity there until they get beset by the last remains of the people Romonon: sentient and walking gold statues with a grudge against Witches. Which means Qifrey, even grievously wounded as he is, has to still do everything in his power to protect his students as we end in a blinding display of magic from him!

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
