About the Bats flying thing. I think its a trust issue I mean everybody knows Bats trust the League about as far as he can throw em. He probably has this deep fear that they will drop him or something. In fact Bats probably only trust his partners, Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl. And Alfred. Thats about it.

Not really in a knigt of shadows batman says he trusts j'onn with his life I think the reason he didn't a want a ride was for honor, pride etc. even tho i didn't this eppy yet I'm rating it 5 stars anyway I would LOVE to see a batman and WW romance batman needs a girl friend! ;) :p :D

No, Batman doesn't need a girlfriend. In terms of his past history, girlfriends = trouble. After he gives up being Batman, then maybe he could try to pursue a serious relationship, but until then being the Bat is always going to get in the way.

That is, until he marries Catwoman and has a daughter who grows up to be the Huntress. :)

ok I overlooked that part your right taila and catwoman kinda makes it hard BUT WW is on the same team as batman. catwoman was bad and Taila a had a evil daddy those two betrayed batman why would WW? just a thought but

As for the romance bit, every princess needs her knight

that explains all for me do I need to say more? ;)

oh I forgot in Paradise lost superman gives batman lift to the underworld and this time they leave flash to run along beside them i was pretty shocked but i understood why superman would and not WW or MM

Four stars

When I first began rating episodes, I gave this a three out of five. Seeing it yesterday, I realized it deserved more credit. Brave and the Bold is a very enjoyable episode with most of the funniest lines of the season. My only problem was...the threat.

"And you didn't want to give him our number."

The restaurant scene was priceless. It's always nice to see what the characters do in their free time, but really, does Wally wear the Flash suit 24/7? How come we've only seen John Stewart out of costume?

The chase scene was fine with me. Unlike just about everyone else, I had no problem with how the Flash was drawn running. Remember, this isn't Wally West in top form, he probably hasn't even heard of the Speed Force yet (and he probably never will unless they make a Flash series or go through a Zero Hour event). Plus, he was obviously playing with the van...without any regard for bystanders...It's fiction, consequences don't matter when you can make cool chase scenes.

"And I feel guilty when I steal paper clips from the Watchtower."

"My insurance doesn't cover a second driver!"

"Get your stinking hands off me, you filthy human!"

Showing what the Flash experiences while he's being controlled was pretty cool. I dunno why he'd remember his origin, apparently they just stuck that in for our benefit. The Flash/GL interaction is always fun to watch. Love the hot dog scene.

Then we start wandering into camp...The whole Gorilla City and Grodd thing. Don't get me wrong, it was an ingenious plot, but the fact that an ape was behind it kinda brought down the threat. It seemed like something out of Superfriends. Personally, I think Grodd should only be used as a solo villain in a Flash series.

Plus, the entire arc wasn't all that memorable. "Oh, yeah...the monkey episode..." that's how I think of it whenever it slips my mind. It's still great and fun to watch, it just wasn't as good as some of the other eps, IMO.

"How do you take your coffee?"
"Cream and thrity-seven sugars....Really!"

Four stars

I liked this even better than Part 1. Seeing Batman in action in broad daylight was actually a nice change from his usual setting. But Flash was great as always. The entire arc is full of plot holes, but let's just lump those together with the "campy super-ape taking over humanity" plot and take off only one point.

Flash: "Usually when a city is this empty, flesh-eating zombies are involved"
GL: "You watch too many movies."
Flash" Maybe YOU don't watch enough!"

The crowd scene was weird. Okay...Grodd HATES all humans...so he wants to be their leader? Why doesn't he just wipe them out? Oh, well, no big.

I loved the missle scenes. Each member used their abilities well (okay, Batman only dug out Wonder Woman) and it was a good way to win the gorillas' trust. And, yes, that kiss opens the door to romantic possibilites but don't expect Bats and WW to be the Ross and Rachel of Justice League.

The look on Batman's face, though... :D

"Oh, yeah? Well you're....naked!"

"Internet romances, huh?"

It's nice to see Flash use the old noggin. As GL said, "you're not as dumb as you look." Dr. Corwin scares me. Who the heck falls in love with an ape? Eeergh...

I hope Grodd comes back as part of the Secret Society, but not in another spotlight ep.

"The Brave and the Bold" airs tonight

Tonight at 2 a.m. ET Cartoon Network airs the Justice League arc, The Brave and the Bold. This thread is a new merge of the original talkbacks for Part 1 and Part 2. There aren't a lot of JL episodes that I care for. I prefer JLU. But this one was great! Love the Flash and his team-ups with GL were always my favorites. They just play so well off each other. A great buddy episode all the way. When this first came out, I remember people starting to wonder if Dini had jumped the shark. Wonder if people still feel that way....

This is one of the better episodes of Season 1.

Part One: First off, it was about time we got a Flash spotlight this far in the series, and this one didn't dissapoint. There are some great scenes with that guy, like the beginning where he's telling the girls about fighting Grundy, that was great. The chase scene at the beginning took way too long IMO, but there was some nice animation, and Flash did a good job of showing off his powers and skills. I always enjoy the dynamic between GL and Flash, they're complete opposites, yet they work together so well on screen. I liked how we got a look inside Flash's mind, we got a clip of an origin, so that was appreciated for me, cause I don't read comics, and it was just weird way of looking into his psyche. Some other nice Flash touches are, asking for coffee and 48 sugars, buying like 20 hotdogs, and leaving GL to pay, and asking the soon to be supervillan if he wanted a banana. The other gorilla, his name escapes me, was a nice addition, and having him team-up with Flash and GL was kinda cool, seeing them react to working with a gorilla. Grodd was a great villan, loved his VA and his diabolical attitude, and the fight between Flash and GL was great. Basically, part one had little to know flaws.

Part two: What a cliffhanger, I honestly had know idea what Grodd had done to Central City, and I don't really understand why he did it either. I was a bit dissapointed to see Batman, MM, WW, and Hawkgirl come in, but that didn't interfere with Flash and GL's team-up so it didn't matter. But they did kinda steal the spotlight from those two a bit, while they were stuck dodging the mind controlled citizens in Central City, the other got into Gorilla City. First off, love the design of Gorilla City, it looks so big and the buildings were awesome. The interrogation scene of the the JL was great, the gorillas were really threatning and ruthless, but good ol Batman got the league out of there, it was weird to see the League beating up some gorillas. The finale was great, Flash did a great job proving he's not as dumb as he comes off to be, and he found a clever way to beat Grodd, and seeing the league take down those missles was nice too, and Batman gotta kiss that started the horrible, infamous relationship between Batman and WW.:p

So great villan, great hero, nice animation, humor, but the story and plot was a bit lacking though, oh, and monkies, every episode with monkies is good.

****1/2

P.S. I just realized I can't spell monkeys. I thought monkies looked weird.:p

Nice four star episode but I could have chased down that truck in Part 1 faster than Flash.

I think the Flash was going not as fast coz he does not want to go lightspeed losong control and pass that truck making him go to the speed force ala "Divided We Fall".

Anyways,

I have missed all the JL eps at 2 am.

Can someone please explain the format of the 2 am.

Are the 2 parters put together like one big episode or are they separated into 2 parts??

I mean do they show the openning theme again on the 2:30 slot followed by "Previously on JL" or do they skip all of that for part 2 and just go staight ahead to the actual 2:30 show after the commercials???

I just want to know coz my VCR is hard to record if I leave it on pause for so many minutes.

Thanks.

they do it like two separate episodes. they do the whole, previously on justice league things, the theme, and everything. its u set ur vcr for 2 keep it til 3, even if you have all that repeating garbage in the middle.

These two episodes proved The Flash is much smarter than you'd think.

He and Green Lantern's interaction remind me a lot of Oscar and Felix.Gorilla Grodd's used quite well and I'm glad he shall have a grudge against Flash.

Random thoughts

The dream sequence The Flash had of some man being struck by lightning is his origin. The producers said so themselves in the The Brave and The Bold DVD's special feature.Him turning fat, becoming a puppet and growing head all came from the Silver Age Flash comics,I think.

Did anyone notice that when we saw the lightning's POV until it struck Wally and when Flash and John exited the Central City Police Department?Wow,they already knew what Wally's job is before "Flash and Substance" was even a thought.

Four stars.

At first I didn`t like this ep, but for some reason I started to like it. And it`s one of the reason why I started to like flash. Althougth the titleof the ep`s is from a DC comic book, I think it`s the perfect name for F&GL team up just like world finiest is for S&B.

Of course they knew what his job was, BT and crew are some pretty hardcore comic geeks. Although I dont think thats how Wally West got his powers in the comics. But Barry Allen did and The DCAU guys have been known to mix in their fav or most logical parts of comics. I really like this episode, pretty much just pure fun. I also like his Soloman Grundy story( from Injustice for All no doubt ), "But he couldn't catch me and you know why...(Slirps drink )..Cuz Im the Flash!":D four and a a half stars. cant ever go wrong with Gorillas either.

And it's strange to think how the two first met in "Secret Origins."

Rich Fogel talked about the 2 parter on Justice League Revisited and talked about some of the bts.

I'd like to get a little bit to the background of how those writing credits ended up the way they did. Paul Dini was originally slated to write this one. He was very passionate about it and wanted to do it and he got through the first draft of the outline and then he had to reluctantly drop out of it because he was dealing with carpal tunnel issues and he couldn't write. So he came into my office practically in tears saying "I'm sorry, I can't do it." And at this point, we were behind schedule. We had all sorts of stories in various phases of production and I'm like, "Oh my God, what am I gonna do now?" So Bruce and I sat down and went over the material we had so far. It wasn't working the way we wanted to so we restructured it and beat it out the way we wanted to and I wrote it up so that was the outline but I still didn't have a writer for it. And I asked--all my A-writers were already on assignment for me so I couldn't double dip with them so I asked around and Alan Burnett was working on Static Shock at the time and he said, "I've been working with Dwayne McDuffie and he's really good and he's just finished an assignment for me so if you want to ask him, go ahead." So I said, "Oh, that'd be great." I was familiar with Dwayne's comic book work but I didn't know him. So I called him up, got him on the phone, "Hey, I'm doing Justice League, you want to do this? We got a story for you." He was like, "Yeah. Okay." And I said "Ok, I'll send over the material and if you have any questions." "Ok." And that was it.

22:20-23:00
Well, the original working title was "Gorilla Warfare" and we thought that was a little too cute for the room. And then we were looking at the fact this is really a team up episode with Flash and Green Lantern and, of course, when you think of team up, Brave and the Bold is the team up show. Normally, it was Batman but it was the idea you're pairing two heroes up in an unusual adventure and that's what we were keying off of.

25:19-26:05
In the original script, we had him zapped and to him in the lab being struck by lightning which is the Flash main thing and we were like that's good but we need to expand on it so we started talking about what we could do in that idea and getting all these weird psychedelic images that came directly from comic book covers into it and from that seed idea of zapped and a little bit of flashback, we extended that into this whole sequence. I think it was boarded before the script was written then was incorporated into the script.

28:23-28:53
That was--"don't heckle the supervillain" was Dwayne's. In the outline, it said "Flash razzies Grodd" so we didn't know what the line was gonna be. So when he wrote that in, I was "Oh my God, that's perfect." Yeah.

Everyone applause these two characters, for soon getting their own spin-off full animated series!!! (who would have expected a series with PB and Marceline anyway? I know they have an upcoming comic book series which will go well with)

Watched Toy Story 5 today. It felt like another awesome escapade for the characters, while also they taught an important lesson: it's ok to be different, especially if you still like to play with toys. Lily turned from an antagonist to a hero of the movie, because of realising exactly that.
