"LOONEY TUNES COLLECTOR'S VAULT" Talkback

Can't wait to hear what the titles will be, and am glad the line wasn't abandoned right after the first volume. Makes sense they would concentrate on making T&J the best it can be.

Fantastic selection. Love that we're finally getting A-Lad in His Lamp and A Sheep in the Deep, and The Daffy Duckaroo is an out-of-left-field surprise.

Was kinda hoping the second disc would include some cartoons with fixed audio pitch and/or Academy ratios, but there are still some good choices there.

Man I might not have thought about I Was a Teenage Thumb in over 15 years. I haven't seen it in 30!

I'm glad A-Lad in His Lamp is included, it's a fun cartoon and pretty innocuous too. Yes, you might not include those old Arabian tropes in a cartoon today, but I don't think it needs to be mothballed in a world where the Disney Aladdin is still mass-merchandised.

I don't see it on Amazon - is it up for pre-order yet or am I missing it?

It hasn't gone up for pre-order yet.

At least 2 shorts that aren't on Tubi.

The package WB TV sent Tubi and Weigel weeds all but a handful of shorts with any kind of un-PC element, be it a whole cartoon or a brief gag.

I really need to get one of these new Looney Tunes blu-rays. It's nice to see how frequent these new releases are now, since for a while during the 2010's, new Looney Tunes DVD and blu-rays releases were quite scarce.

Pre-ordering is now available, so I've got mine in. :)

Aw nuts, my copy isn't shipping until Sunday.

I just ordered Volume 2 but it won't come until April 1.

Seems like high demand for now.

The News Team's Classic Speedy has a new review up on the front page of AnimeSuperhero.com:

"Review: “Looney Tunes Collector’s Vault Vol. 2”: Oh Heavens to Gimbles, Yes!"

"Warner Bros. continues to spoil us Looney Tunes fans with another 51-cartoon Blu-ray set of comic goodness, only nine months after the last one. That they continue to churn these out at a high quality, for a low price in this economy, is to be commended.

To review: The Collector’s Vault line contains new-to-disc cartoons for disc 1, and upgrades from DVD on disc 2. So what’s new this time? Unlike the last volume, we get a Bugs cartoon that’s new to disc, A-Lad-in His Lamp, where the rabbit encounters a genie in a lamp and inadvertently travels to Bagdad where he escapes a sultan who wants the genie for himself. It’s one of my personal favorites from director Robert McKimson (largely due to the exaggerated acting that was more common in his earlier shorts), and I’m glad it finally replaces the VHS versions. Daffy gets three new shorts: Ain’t That Ducky (directed by Friz Freleng), Boston Quackie (McKimson) and The Daffy Duckaroo (Norm McCabe)."

They're working on restoring The Bugs Bunny Show (the original from 1960), so they're gonna HAVE to restore these two cartoons soon.

I personally want Volume 3 to dig deeper into the library. Some black-and-white Porkys, some Harman and Ising, maybe even a couple of Seven Arts cartoons would all add some spice.

Zoom at the Top was included on vol. 2.

I can't believe I forgot What's My Lion?. That print has always looked overly brown/yellow, hopefully we'll get to see it color corrected.

Oh, okay, thanks for the correction.

That short was Elmer’s very last speaking role and it has yet to see a release on video.

I could see 1943’s Flop Goes the Weasel being included on the set. The only time that short got released in physical form was on a Laserdisc release.

Glad I got you to watch Stranger Things.

If I may recommend more media for you to check out, here's a starter:

You've mentioned that haven't read the original TMNT comics from Mirage Studios. Well, this video by YouTuber "Soundout12" gives a decent roadmap for where to start:

dmxx116 really likes to wish for people not to return back to so and so because their films didn't do so well. I don't agree with everything he says, though I agree on that Jared Leto shouldn't play Skeletor.
