This is the season finale. Andrew Paull I think is the voice of the Creator. We see him on a planet the dub calls Gouaroosh interacting with Zuwijo and referring to the Velgearians as artificial Kartumata people. I don’t care much for this explanation that the Velgearians are not even aliens but rather just artificial people.
I thought that was a pretty good twist. It explained stuff like why Yudias could withstand extreme hot and cold temperatures, why he didn't age when Yuhi and Yuamu did when they first met Nishaw and why he transformed into a shirt when he ran out of energy. I initially wrote that off as the result of being an alien and having different physical body than a human person, but the notion that the Velgearians are more like living objects than aliens makes a lot of sense.
It also explains why Zwijo was willing to go as far as he did to make them living creatures. Finding out that his race wasn't even really living creatures, and that they were doomed to continue this war as playthings for the Creator would explain why he wanted to use the Earthdama to make them into living creatures, even if it impacted the world like it would have in the third arc. It doesn't make up for the Earthdama being such an annoyingly vague plot device or how it makes the world building in Go Rush actively worse, but I think the twist works in explaining Zwijo's motivation. He was still interesting and mysterious with his appearances through the season, but I don't think he became my favorite until this season finale. Granted, there aren't a lot of Go Rush characters that I like anyway, but I would say that he's the best villain in the series and the best rival since Reiji from Arc V. I hope that they didn't tone down Yudias' love confession to Zwijo in the dub.
There’s also more stuff with Damamu but ultimately his pivotal role was… getting a draw duel, now being healthy again, flying his ship to power one of Yudias’ monsters for a few seconds before a complex combo where he gets sacrificed immediately without attacking. This was also the fate of almost every spaceship piloted card in this duel, so I don’t really get how his role mattered to ending the war between the Velgearians and their unnamed enemy. This intergalactic war never received any meaningful explanation. We do not even know the name of the rival group of aliens, and never got to see any of them. We did see the alien fleet of Nishaw, near the end, but he was just a random indecisive alien who got played up as a major factor by defeating Yudias, only to sit on the sidelines until the last scene. Now the war is just over (despite the rival faction never doing anything in the entire season), with the next arc being a new conflict unrelated to the finale’s events.
I didn't really mind the duel being a draw. It was mostly done to keep Yuhi and Yuamu busy until near the end of Yudias' duel. The idea of characters Yudias met throughout the season helping him with their cards is nice on paper. It fits with the theme of the franchise and to show how Yudias wanted to end the war differently than Zwijo did, but like I mentioned earlier, it really falls apart when outside of Yuhi and Yuamu, Yudias just didn't build a strong connection with any of these characters. There's just too many characters and the vast majority of them are gimmicky one note characters to boot. There are other friendships in Go Rush that feel believable beyond the main trio, but it's pretty minimum in my opinion. Other than being tied to a Sevens character, London has no real reason to be here for example. There just isn't enough of a connection between Yudias and most of the main/supporting cast to make the whole working together in this major duel feel earned.
As for the war, I'm not too surprised that it doesn't really get a meaningful explanation. From the start, it was more of a plot device designed to showcase both Yudias and Zwijo's personalities and different views on how to end it. I don't think it was supposed to be much more than that. Even when they first arrived on Yudias' home planet, from what I remember at least, the soldiers and generals were more cartoonishly over the top rather than treating their training or the war as something more serious. Unlike the Dimensional War in Arc V, the Velgearian war wasn't treated as one of the big mysteries of the series or a legit threat. It's probably another reason why I didn't find the Velgearians particularly interesting in the long run.
However we have to wait more than one week to see it. During this morning's new Beyblade X, they showed an ad for Go Rush, but it said “Watch on disney XD” with the references to new episodes removed. Go Rush is set to go into reruns on Saturday and Sunday mornings. It’s unknown when it will return. BBX premieres continue every Saturday, which is good since I’ve been enjoying this new goth girl character Reiyu Kuwabara. Now that the season is fully aired and on demand, I will go back through the earlier episodes’ credits (41,43-48) and update the credits of earlier posts.
I could see them airing season two sometime this summer. Waiting until the fall is a possibility too, but that would be a pretty long break and I doubt that KCM really needs that much time to get season two ready to air. I assume that they've at least started the season already, but I guess it's hard to say for sure.
