    What the heck's Flamingo Telefilm?

Coincidentally, there's a thread going on dealing with this subject on Jerry's board. Check this out: http://www.animationshow.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=8&t=691& Seems as though they are mostly imported from Europe... I'm pretty interested in this subject myself! Simon

Who was the Worst Cartoon Studio Big Shot

From everything I've read, Fred Quimby was far worse than either Selzer or Schlesenger. Simon

WB Cartoon Discussion Of The Week: "Rabbit Of Seville"

This is easily one of the best Jones cartoons of the '50s. Everything about the cartoon is exemplary: animation, character design, music, gags... A near perfect short. Personally, I think it's a million times better than "What's Opera Doc". Not that I dislike that cartoon--the backgrounds in...

Release ALL (WB) cartoons in chronological order?

Just what is wrong with B/W Porkys? How could anyone be bored with cartoons like "The Daffy Doc", "Porky In Wackyland", "Porky Pig's Feet", etc...? I hadn't thought of that, but it actually sounds like a great idea... And that way there would be no excuse not to include certain controversial...

    A Mighty Mouse movie??!

The original Mighty Mouse cartoons were excellent, but you can bet that a new full-length feature wouldn't be worth our time. It would be either dumbed down to the level of a kiddy-flick, or else it would be full of snide, "hip" humor. And God forbid that anybody revive a classic character in...

    underappreciated Warner Bros. cartoons

I'd agree with everyone who has cited McKimson as an underrated director, as we've discussed here recently. I'd also add Davis to the list of underappreciated greats. And while Tashlin and Clampett both have pretty big followings, there are still a lot of people who don't appreciate the pre-'48...

    Best LT movie?

I really don't have a favourite, because I think they're all pretty bad. When I was a kid, I really liked the Bugs Bunny Road Runner movie, because I idolized Jones, but now I can't even sit through the whole movie. I'd say that "Bugs Bunny: Superstar" was the best of the bunch, but I can see...

cartoon characters you feel sorry for sometimes

When I was a kid, I felt sorry for Donald in one of the Chip N' Dale cartoons... it's the one where he's trying to cut down the tree they live in... I'm thinking that the title is "Tree for Two", but I could be wrong... Anyway, the final image of the cartoon, with Donald looking completely and...

    back in action poster

So what's everybody's least favourite stock pose? The one that really gives me the creeps is that god-awful shot of Bugs smiling with his mouth WIDE OPEN.... what's he trying to do, catch flies??? Doesn't anybody realize that Bugs NEVER SMILED LIKE THIS in the original cartoons?? Simon

which classic cartoons do you consider to be animated very cheap?

Absolutely, Rob... the cartoons you mention and others define Bugs Bunny for me. Not to mention that the wabbit never looked better than in McKimson's shorts. I disagree with you about his Porky and Daffy shorts though... I think that McKimson had a better handle on these characters as a team...

    favorite Chuck Jones cartoons?

I like Jones' early experiments with stylized backgrounds and animation... stuff like the Aristo-Cat, Wakiki Wabbit, and of course the Dover Boys... Way ahead of its time. I also like Jones' darker side... Angel Puss, Fresh Airedale, Chow Hound, Scaredy Cat... Jones' earliest, Disneyesque...

Characters not yet developed in their early years.

Well, in the days of theatrical animation, none of the characters were fully developed right from the start. Characters often started as one-shots... if they clicked with audiences, they got another chance, and then another, and were allowed to evolve over time. Simon

Animators from the "golden age" of cartoons

I trust everyone who remembers me knows my answer to this one.... Tyer was a total original, and what he was doing was so unique that many people don't seem to understand it. As for the contention that he lacked talent... check out some of his comic book work to see that idea refuted. I'm...

which classic cartoons do you consider to be animated very cheap?

Actually, I find that McKimson's pre-shutdown cartoons are pretty much uniformly excellent. In fact, watching some of my old tapes recently, I've found that I prefer many of McKimson's cartoons to more highly acclaimed cartoons from Jones and Freleng. Sure, the stuff coming from his unit dropped...

    Favorite "Forgotten" Cartoon Studio

I had a hard time choosing, but I went with Terrytoons, for reasons I've detailed before on this board. Terry, Lantz, and Famous may not have had the superb record that WB, MGM, Disney, and (my personal favourite) Fleischer did, but all are just as worthy of study in their own way. The same...
