    CN Ratings Thread Part 18

All things considered, Gumball is one of their best performers. I'm willing to bet CN internally regrets selling off the reboot to Hulu.

MeTV Toons - Network TALKBACK & Discussion Thread

I hope they have some big, exciting surprises lined up for the fall. The first half of the year has been pretty disappointing so far. I'm struggling to think what could top the return of Terrytoons, but something like that would be appreciated.

What Video Games Did You Play This Week? (2026 Edition)

So many of the collectibles are mandatory, that you might as well go for 100% completion. If you're able to beat the game, you're already most of the way there. I'll also give DK64 credit where it was due. Doing away with lives was good design. That was a weak point with Mario 64 and...

Brown Bag Films Creates Adult Animation Division

I can't too invested unless they get a project off the ground that has a trailer and a firm release date. We've been here before. Remember when Illumination was going to start an adult animation division?

    CN Ratings Thread Part 18

When did they add classic Tom and Jerry to the regular schedule?

Will linear television be an extinct business by the end of the decade?

That's what did in Steven Universe. The creators wanted to push LGBT rep in ways that made it hard to air in overseas markets. The Ruby and Sapphire wedding was the straw that broke the camel's back. Infintiy Train was done in because a season was supposed to star an adult going through adult...

Will linear television be an extinct business by the end of the decade?

The Amazing Digital Circus runs circles around the big three (CN, Disney and Nick) in terms of popularity with kids. But the thing is, the Big 3 can't greenlight their own Amazing Digital Circus because the things that make it popular spit in the face of their conventional wisdom of what a...

MeTV Toons - Network TALKBACK & Discussion Thread

Like I said, I think WB is done with restoring Hanna-Barbera cartoons. If someone asks Jerry Beck about it, he'll probably confirm. Quick Draw, when it hits, will probably be the last one.

"The Doomies" News And Discussion Thread

The show would have to get really good streaming numbers to get a Season 2. New kids cartoons have huge disadvantages on stream, like having to compete with established hits already there (in Disney's case, pretty much everything animated they've made up to this point). As Peter says in his...

There's no way it doesn't go through now. Any remaining international regulatory bodies will fall over like dominoes Dread the future.

Review: The Famous Studios Champion Collection: Some Novel ‘Toons

A lot of it is because ClassicFlix is a much smaller, indie botique operation compared to the big studios. botiques are going to get lesser treatment.

Which cartoon studio in the 1940s did the best with theatrical cartoons?

After WB, MGM, Disney and Lantz, Famous would be my favorite studio. They made a lot of fun and solid shorts, particularly Popeye shorts like Rocket to Mars. It's hard to say things about 40's Fleischer. The Fleischer-Famous transition happened super-early in the decade (and according to...

    "Donkey Kong 64" Talkback (Spoilers)

Donkey Kong 64 was the first game I played when it was new ( I got the green N64 bundle for Christmas 1999) and I can remember noping out around Frantic Factory. That level's a Metroidvania-esque maze of narrow corridors that's much too easy to get lost in, and it was too much for a kid me that...

"The Amazing Digital Circus" News & Discussion

It was the #1 movie in the US on its its opening day, outgrossing Scary Movie, the new He-Man movie, and Mandalorian and Grogu. Even if it trails off,we're talking about a limited-time event of something that will be free on YouTube in two weeks. That is absolutely mindblowing. There's a...

Which cartoon studio in the 1940s did the best with theatrical cartoons?

WB, no contest, with MGM as a very close second. If you've seen any of their cartoons, you'll know why. Lantz and Disney are tied for third in my eyes, since both their work was more hit-and-miss, but their best work compares favorable with WB and MGM.
