I’d just settle for the specials and particularly the movie getting released on DVD. It’s such a bummer that they got omitted from the DVD release.

THAT’S more like it! After Shane Black’s abysmal reboot, this a back-to-basics take on the franchise. Some of the effects work looks like it would’ve benefited from a bigger budget, but it had a spunky heroine, gorgeous cinematography, some meat-and-potatoes action, and slick direction.

We didn’t have a talkback thread for this? That’s surprising. Anyway, I have to confess that while I know many people who love this movie, I’ve always found it sub-Indy. It has the right spirit, but I don’t think it has the sense of wit that Raiders does, and the action scenes don’t have that...

They took down Battlestar Galactica and the other Sci-Fi Channel shows! Except for Farscape oddly. Drat!

This kind of felt like Mangold’s first Wolverine movie to me: he wants to do something different that actually takes the mythology in a different direction, but he’s kind of straight jacketed by the needs of the franchise.

Disappointing, certainly, but hardly surprising.

Damn. Celebrity deaths don’t usually hit me this hard, but this one is deeply personal for me. He’s the reason I ever even got into comics. I spent countless hours as a kid imitating his raspy bass. Other actors played Batman, but he WAS Batman. I’m going to have to process this.
