    Thoughts on Perfect Blue

Great film. Very well directed, probably one of the best-directed films ever made. I think I prefer Millennium Actress, though.

Reviewing all 57 Disney Animated Canon Movies!

I like Atlantis: The Lost Empire, although I don't love it.

Reviewing all 57 Disney Animated Canon Movies!

I didn't mind Trusty surviving. It bothered me more in The Fox and the Hound since that death would have made the story so much stronger (and it would've made more sense given the context).

    Funimation, Crunchyroll End Content-Sharing Partnership

    Yeah, I agree it's disappointing.

Reviewing all 57 Disney Animated Canon Movies!

I like the way Tinker Bell is animated. Despite being a fairy, she's a rather "human" character.

I prefer Make Mine Music, it has a better selection of shorts.

Reviewing all 57 Disney Animated Canon Movies!

I think the first five movies are on a whole different league compared to everything that came later. Good job so far.

    20th Anniversary of "Batman Beyond!"

I think this show is the other side of the coin of Batman TAS. In Batman TAS, what we remember the most is the great character drama, the sophisticated dialogue and voice acting, and the great noir/art deco, retro visual style and designs. The animation is often lacking and unpolished, and the...

    The World of UPA

Yes, it does. In part. I just wish it could say more. Explain how the designs and colors work and influence the story and the mood. But maybe I'm just asking too much.

John Lasseter Hired At Skydance Animation

It was obvious someone would have done it sooner or later. I'm still not happy about it.

    The World of UPA

It's a good series. Pretty informative. I wish more time could be spent analyzing the aesthetic qualities of these films. But I guess I can't complain.

    We need more cartoons bloggers!

I'd love to start one, it's been in my mind for a long time, but the problem is that finding an audience is really hard...

Could 2D theatrical animation see a resurgence?

One hit won't be enough. A lot more hits are needed to have even a glimpse of hope that 2D will be back. And even that may not be enough: why should studios abandon CG if it has worked so well for them for so many years? The only way I can see 2D coming back is with a string of hits combined...

When will American animation grow up?

How can an audience demand something that barely even exists yet? These kind of movies have to be made first; otherwise we'll get nowhere.

When will American animation grow up?

Of course when people say that they want animation to "grow up", they don't necessarely mean the amount of swears or vulgarity. What they want is the variety of themes, subjects and genres that can already be found in several other mediums. To think of "adult entertainment" you need to look no...
