Loved the mystery plot, the character design/art direction (as always) and performances—and interesting to watch it a second time, with more insight into characters’ motivations. The movie had some truly heartfelt emotional beats, not simply a paint-by-the-numbers action extravaganza. These...
Fair enough—but I wouldn’t say our observations are mutually exclusive. Visually, the two Bruce Timm-produced shows have far more in common than the DC source material, by virtue of the fact that they use his artistic style.
Whoever storyboarded Aya’s attempt to alter the Big Bang was clearly referencing Batman, Green Lantern John Stewart and Chronos witnessing the beginning of time in Justice League Unlimited’s “The Once and Future Thing, Part Two: Time Warped.”
I am referring to season one being transferred in fullscreen (4:3) rather than widescreen (16:9, in this case cropped) format, as was the creators' original intent. This explains it in more detail: http://jl.toonzone.net/widescreen/widescreen.htm
I was hesitant to upgrade after the lackluster season one Blu-ray transfer, but season two is well worth it. I got mine in the mail today, and the picture and sound are amazing--like watching the show all over again with fresh eyes. I'm totally pumped for Blu-ray releases of "JLU"; someday...
Yes, I realize that Kaldur has been Aquaman for two years (per Greg Weisman). I assume he had been living in Atlantis up until “Independence Day” and “Fireworks,” when Young Justice is formed. Garth and Tula state that Kaldur has been gone for two months in “Downtime,” which matches the episode...
He and Aquaman respond to an attack in Pearl Harbor by Killer Frost, but I don’t know that this was meant to imply that either of them lives there. If anything, Kaldur would still be living in Atlantis at that point—prior to Superboy’s liberation and the formation of the Young Justice team. His...
This episode brings up an interesting question: In this episode, Garth and Tula respond to Kaldur that he has been gone from Atlantis for two months. In “Welcome to Happy Harbor,” M’gann and Superboy (along with Red Tornado) seem to be the only team members living at Mount Justice, per the group...
It was nice seeing the background art for Metropolis—specifically the Daily Planet exteriors, interiors and surrounding buildings—from S:TAS (later reused for JLU).
Robert Forster voiced the president in JLU's "Flashpoint" (the source of your screen grab) and "Divided We Fall", while Brian George is credited in JL's "A Better World". Their voices are distinctly different, and I don't believe we see the president's face in his JLU appearances--so I'm going...
A Flash and Elongated Man team-up episode might've been funny -- perhaps in place of the Booster Gold story, which wasn't my favorite (even of the comedies).
