Toonami's 20th Anniversary Question: When did you first discover Toonami?

I haven't logged on to this site in years! Came back because hearing that it's the 20th for Toonami made me all nostalgic. I started watching Toonami in the Spring of '99 after hearing from my cousins that there was this great show called Dragon Ball Z that was apparently becoming the biggest...

Is Cartoon Network cutting back on season orders?

I think they're just trying to standardize what a season means for the network. It's varies from each individual season to season and show to show, which can be confusing.

"King Kong: Skull Island" Pre-Release Discussion (Spoilers)

JK Simmons (before he left the project) said it was set in the '70s, and set photos of the helicopters and other hardware seem to back this up.

    "DuckTales" (2017) Series Talkback (Spoilers)

Woohoo! Scrooge's jacket back to its comics-accurate color and Donald in on the action. I suppose my hope that this new DuckTales would be closer to the Barks comics may come true!

Mystery Science Theater 3000 reboot is happening

I'm honestly not sure that they'll make it to the 12 episode goal. They might, but I don't wanna get my hopes up... but I'm pretty certain they'll at least reach the 9 episodes. Can't wait!

What's your longest run of a series? Part 3

Hellboy. Been following it since '04, right after the first movie came out. Picked up the latest issue last week. Of course, these days the series has split: Mike Mignola still writes and draws Hellboy's continuing adventures in Hellboy in Hell, and Mike writes or co-writes a flashback series...

what's with the sudden resurgence of vinal records?

Though audiophiles have their reasons for appreciating vinyl I think there are other reasons more casual fans like them: they're cool! You have the awesome, big covers, and the action of the player with the revolving record and the needle and such... there's just a fun to the action of it.

Do you still buy Blu-ray/DVDs? Has downloading/streaming changed your viewing habits?

My thoughts are very similar. I rarely blind-buy, but if I'm sure I want something (either by already seeing it or being a huge fan of the director/actor/series) I want a physical copy. I want the ability to truly own the thing, and the ability to watch and rewatch the thing decades into the...

When did you stop reading comic regularly?

Man, Corto Maltese is like my newest favorite comic! I've been dipping into European comics in the past few years. Besides Corto, I'd say Asterix and Blacksad are my favorites.

what killed the anime boom in the united states?

I can certainly see that. The mid-00s was when my anime consumption took a nosedive, and that wasn't just the decline in the 'boom.' For one thing, I stopped being a teen and became (something of) an adult, and it seemed shows were getting more and more of a laser focus on targeting a teen...

what killed the anime boom in the united states?

^What he said: a confluence of a lot of stuff, from the economic downturn to poor business decisions. It all just sorta caused the house of cards to come tumbling down. ... that being said. It was probably good in the long run. The industry is now fairly stable and you don't have to pay $30 for...

    Anime on VHS (nostalgia thread)

When I was a very small child I collected Winnie the Pooh VHS, when I was a little older I collected as many tapes as I could of Godzilla and other kaiju (including a few bootlegs), but by middle school I got a DVD player, and that was when Toonami had introduced anime to me so Toonami and later...

When did you stop reading comic regularly?

I read more comics now than I ever have before, but it's an eclectic bunch. Some new stuff, some vintage reprints, some foreign, some domestic, some corporate, most creator-owned. The thing is that comics is a medium, incredibly wide and diverse. If you only read one kind of comic of course...

Adventure Time Doing Something Big/Game Changing Then Going Back On It Question

On one level it can be frustrating when you expect a storyline to lead to an Earth-shaking change in the status-quo and that doesn't happen, but on the other hand AT has a winning formula and if it changed too much would it still be as good? Still the same show? The actual changes in AT are both...

"Godzilla Vs. Kong" Pre-Release News & Discussion (Possible Spoilers)

^ Yeah, and Daiei always seemed more interested in the prospect of the two parties - but, I think things are different now in terms of how Toho is run (Shin Godzilla's production is so different from all past Toho films, for example), and nowadays a lot of Japanese films are co-productions... I...
