Think that Scarface is the better comparison actually. The thing with Sopranos is that it was always at its core about the nuclear family dynamic of Tony's house and the way that clashed with the mob. Don't really expect any nuclear family component to The Penguin.
Came across this extremely /wild/ and as far as I can tell unsubstantiated rumor on another big big forum, posted by an admin. of all people. I don't believe it in the slightest, just posting here in case @b.t. wishes to comment on it. Still perplexed as to how extreme the smears have gotten...
The funny thing is that TNBA/JL/JLU/Batman Beyond Bruce Wayne was a "proper Batman" and he could get extremely cold and manipulative at times, same with the Arkham games, and same with even a bunch of the post-Crisis comics especially starting from the 2000s. And because this Batman starts from...
I do wonder how this show is gonna about handling Bruce's evolution going forward. I'm very very much enjoying this dark take on the character were, as Bruce Timm has said, he's a man of few words and completely obsessed with his mision, is full of extreme character flaws, and where Bruce Wayne...
I just hope that if they do Talia they don't do the whole Grant Morrison version where she's extremely evil and genocidal or whatever. Not only are the racial implications of that really whack and tend to be orientalist as hell but it's been done to death recently. The recent animated movies...
Can I just talk about how this is probably the best version of a "rich Selina"? I was never really a fan of her TAS take or most takes that put her as a rich woman for that matter but here she was so ridiculously fun I actually really really liked her.
Edit: Also, is it just me or does Bruce...
I'm curious. Does the show now fall onto the "DC Studios" organization that James Gunn and Peter Safran are running? (James has reiterated multiple times that all animated shows and movies are under DC Studios, even if they're not DCU, specifically cited MAWS as an example). If so, have you had...
Watched the show and loved it. Hamish is brilliant as Bruce and I really, really, really loved this colder take on the character. His Bruce Wayne especially is as excellent as Timm had put it, and I loved this take on Catwoman as well, in fact I actually prefer her to the DCAU counterpart...
Will there be romantic sparks flying between Batman and literally anybody in the show or is that something you guys are not interested on exploring at all?
I think Julie Madison and adapting the whole Mad Monk storyline from the Bob Kane/Bill Finger stories and the later reinvention by Matt Wagner would be super cool.
Please tell me the exec was Matt Reeves 'cause that'd make me laugh very hard.
But I do understand, although like James Tucker said in regards to another thing, if you guys get a ton more seasons, I guess who knows? Especially since at that point I'd hope people would get the point more this is...
I actually really doubt they'll ever become that explicit with it anytime soon given how closed off this version of Batman is described as being, but I disagree with you there. I'm more than fine with those people being unhappy, especially when they'll inevitably have to admit the show is...
