Tired of seeing Disney make live-action remakes, Disney announced that it will make a new line of remakes: underwater remakes set in the merworld.

The first one will be an underwater remake of Tangled where Flynn and Rapunzel escape the surface world and become merpeople.

The movie will be CG-animated like the original Tangled movie because "Flynn Rider will look like the best merman ever".

Darwin the Merman here. A friend of mine is a merboy living in Singapore (technically close) and he noticed that Disney Channel is on Mediacorp's terrestrial platform on channel 8. They're using the former Okto slot and operating a new localized feed which is in testing phase.

Seeing the success that Weigel and WBD are having with MeTV Toons, Scripps and Disney announced today that they will partner to launch a new over-the-air and FAST network called VaultToons. The new network will be distributed by Scripps Networks on its ION TV Stations and FAST Services that carry its FAST Channels. Disney will provide its library of programming including shows from the BVS Entertainment library. The lineup will consist of three 4 hour block air twice a day on the weekdays and two 5 hour and once 2 hour blocks aired twice a day on the weekends.

Weekday blocks will consist of:

FX Kids at 6 AM and PM, which will be made of up shows from the BVS Entertainment library with bumpers styled after the original Fox Kids bumpers.

Jetix at 10 AM and PM, which will be made up of action shows featured on the original Jetix.

The Disney Afternoons at 2 PM and AM, which will be made up of Disney Cartoons that air on the original block as well as original intro and bumpers.

Weekend block will consist of:

Disney's One Saturday Morning at 6 AM and PM, which will be made up of Cartoons that aired on the original as well as the original intro, bumpers and interstitials.

FX Kids at 11 AM and PM, which will be made of up shows from the BVS Entertainment library with bumpers styled after the original Fox Kids bumpers.

Jetix at 4 PM and AM, which will be made up of action shows featured on the original Jetix.

Scripps Company and The Walt Disney Company today announced the launch of VaultToon Network (VTN), a new free, over-the-air (OTA) television network dedicated to classic animated programming from the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s.

Set to debut nationwide later this year, VaultToon Network will revive the magic of Saturday morning cartoons for a new generation—featuring beloved series, curated programming blocks, and family-friendly entertainment accessible without a subscription.

“VaultToon Network represents an exciting opportunity to connect audiences with timeless storytelling,” said Adam Symson, President and CEO of Scripps. “By combining Scripps’ nationwide broadcast reach with Disney’s unparalleled library of animated content, we’re creating a destination for families and fans alike.”

The network will be distributed across Scripps’ national broadcast footprint, including stations affiliated with ION, Bounce, and other multicast networks, reaching more than 95% of U.S. television households.

VaultToon Network’s lineup will include a curated mix of iconic Disney animated series alongside select acquired classics, with programming blocks designed to mirror the golden age of television animation

Featured titles are expected to include classics such as DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles, Recess, and X-Men: The Animated Series, among others.

“Disney has one of the richest animation legacies in the world,” said a spokesperson for The Walt Disney Company. “VaultToon Network allows us to celebrate that legacy in a new way—bringing cherished stories to audiences in an accessible, shared viewing experience.”

VaultToon Network is slated to launch in Fall 2026, with additional details on affiliates, streaming availability, and full programming schedules to be announced in the coming months.

its announced today that disney will be doing a zootopia live action remake, most of the cast are expected to reprise their roles and the director is rob zombie, the remake will include Rio and Ice Age characters opening the doors for live action remakes of those (with rob zombie also set to direct both of them) and the soundtrack will include the likes of static x, system of a down, linkin park, Alice Cooper, white zombie, rob zombie with shikara music also returning to it

Following the relaunch of Disney Jr. in the UK back in November 2025, Sky has announced that, thanks to testing on satellite, Disney Channel will relaunch in the UK on 1st June 2026. The channel's schedule will be consistent as Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands, Greece, Middle East and Africa, airing the exact same shows like Kiff, Big City Greens, Phineas and Ferb and Vamprina: Teenage Vampire. The channel will be available exclusively on Sky (both satellite and OTT) with the channel soon being available on Virgin Media in the summer.

When it relaunches, it will not be as widespread as Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon as it will only be available on a handful of providers (StarHub in Singapore, Astro in Malaysia, Cignal in the Philippines, K+ in Vietnam, MyTV in Hong Kong, TrueVisions in Thailand and Transvision in Indonesia) on the region. Other countries like Myanmar, Mongolia, Laos and Cambodia however, will not receive the channel at all.

The Singaporean feed will run from 6am to midnight and will air the national anthem at sign-on and sign-off.
